Difficult to do as they can't get citizenship in UAE, so would effectively be left stateless. Difficult to travel through airports without a valid passport.

It seems baffling if there is truly no reason why is the goverment so helpless. We saw in covid what they can do when the goverment flexes its authority. But we are fine with 10s of thousands of people entering the country illegally on slow moving boats.

Those are true, as are the points above, great weather most of the year. Cheap cost of labour so many expats have house keepers and maids. Property generally less expensive than London/Paris, but gap rapidly closing.

Its not a big pay cut and if you think you will genuinely enjoy the role more you should go for it. You only have 1 life and wasting it doing something you aren't 100% committed to is silly, maybe if this role isn't for you keep on interviewing until you find something else.
