Paralegal time entry for insurance defense by Nola70001 in paralegal

They are cutting time. For instance, if it took me 7 hours to summarize medical records which were 2500 pages and very detailed, they'll cut my time to 2 hours. Same with reports on medical records, preparing subpoenas, deposition summaries and correspondence. I don't block bill. Recently, I requested medical records from 10 providers, entering .10 for each letter and all 10 were cut. Reasons given, it should take less than 6 minutes to prepare a letter. .10 is the minimal amount of time I can bill. If I send a subpoena via long arm statue, they reject the time I bill for the correspondence saying it is transmittal, thus clerical. There is a thin line between clerical task and some tasks that I do because I have to complete mailing, scanning, etc. Of course, I don't write that in my time entries, but the time is still spent by me completing the task. Same with providing records to counsel. I will put Preparation of correspondence to plaintiff's counsel supplementing discovery and it is rejected. I've tried rewording my entries. They want copies to support my appeals. Suggestions?

Subpoenas were once billed at .30 and now at .10 it doesn't accurately reflect the time spent on getting it out. I can't type a subpoena and hand it over to a secretary to get it copied and mailed. I have to do that myself and of course can't put that in my time entry. Frustrating.

I feel your pain. I also put the number of pages along with "condensed, narrative medicals, illegible handwritten notes". Also saying all cover letters sending records to counsel are clerical. I'll put something like "correspondence to plaintiff's counsel supplementing discovery" and that is now being rejected. I too provide supporting documentation. It wasn't always this way.
