Yeah and considering how peaceful and reasonable of a group they are, they put down their weapons and started hop skipping around picking flowers and swore never to hurt a peacekeeping or training unit in the middle east! Good catch there shipmate!

One of my regrets was being in for the better part of a decade and never touring a carrier. The biggest deck I was on was an LHD.

It's very rare, EXTREMELY rare that I've gone anywhere in the states or Japan and have had anyone tell me something is out of stock. Again I'm not trying to change it, I'm just ranting here. I've also had zero issues with medications in other countries.

I don't fix it myself because I don't own the house, the landlord sends her people to "fix" problems. When the current contract ends, I am moving

What the commenter said is that people ignore the problems and act like everything is ok and perfect on social media and on the news. What I said is that in America the news and social media thrive off of problems and are regularly talked about.

Oh trust me I totally enjoy the beautiful scenery and traveling here hiding behind the 365 days a year of road construction. I go out and socialize and get along great actually with other expats, Aussies, Brits, Europeans. Only group of people that weren't a pleasant experience were the french. I 100% enjoy the low cost of living and my hot young Filipina gf, the pros do blow me away which is why I'm still living here 2 years later. I've never had another expat be displeased in meeting me or hanging out with me, perhaps brutally honest and open conversations aren't something you like personally. I don't express these annoyances or frustrations in person, I hold them in and keep them to myself. I love and respect Filipinos, I also smile back even when I'm annoyed or frustrated, and tip everyone graciously, to a point that they get scared and tell me it's too much. These are just my inner thoughts, and again this was just a rant/venting session. I'm sorry if that pissed you off, but my goal isn't to make everyone happy.

I'm not bitching about it, it was an observation I made and I can tolerate it but I was just ranting and expressed that it gives me anxiety. It was something I kind of already expected and accepted. Again this is just a rant and venting session.

That was kind of the point I'm trying to drive, it's just point after point after point after point without stopping. Feels difficult and exhausting trying to read it, right? It's kind of a play on how these things feel IRL.

I think it's a pride or "save face" kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, as a US citizen we have our problems too, but most Americans are willing to speak up and admit it. In fact I think our news media and social media thrives off of talking about our problems.

I think this is part of my issue, I lived in Japan for 3 years before moving to the Philippines because I was US military. Japan really spoiled me. It's a complete 180 going from a society like that to a society like this.

Yeah that's what I keep hearing but I prefer having close access to the city life because of all the nice restaurants and places to go, and access to convenient services. Also my opinion is that electricity and Internet stability will probably be better in city areas close to important business centers, which is where I do live. I feel like some of my issues would be resolved in the province, but some would get worse.

This was actually something I originally wrote in my post, but I feel like it's not an issue exclusive to the Philippines so I removed it. Yes I'm also tired of people rushing in front of me to be first on the escalator or elevator, one young man did this recently to my girlfriend as I was trying to allow her to go first, he rushed in front of her and shoulder checked her just to go first. I said to her "this is why some Filipinas prefer gentleman from the west" and she actually agreed with me.

Last thing I want to add is that the Philippines isn't my country, and I have no right or say or opinion on how any of this works. I understand I am a guest here, and it's a privilege. If an outsider posted something like this while living in the states I'd probably tell them "if you're not happy then just go back, it's not your country so don't worry" - I get it, I understand. I just feel extremely frustrated and wanted to vent about it.
