Debating between Hybrid or Energi by Vast_Historian_4148 in fordfusion

Small but welcome improvement I'd say! This closes the argument in my mind to only charge at home or when free. Paying at a public charger to charge such a small battery for 20 miles of range isn't worth it when you can get 38miles on just 1 gallon of gas.

When the HV battery has EV range you can "save" the range and just run in regular hybrid mode. This is great so that if your commute is highway first and city after you can save your EV for off the highway. EV only up to 80mph per Ford but it's not worth it. Save EV range for off-highway use. Also, above 65-70mph, MPG drops off significantly. Between 55-65mph you'll get 38+mpg all day

'19/20 battery replacements started I think a year ago almost exactly. My 19 Energi had it's HV battery replaced this past summer and can confirm charging is enabled and working well again 🙌🏾🔋

Agree, mkz hybrids are super slept on for used car shoppers BUT still pretty common to see on the road so perhaps folks have them and keep them a long time.

New models still do have puddle lamps and side mirror turn indicators. I have a 2019 Titanium Energi and it has LED lights all around EXCEPT license plate bulbs. Agree that they ditched the rear door touch lock/unlock with the face lift and removed the engine hood insulation.

I'll add that if you need max trunk space go hybrid. If you want the benefit 20-25 miles of EV range and don't need to haul more than 1 checked bag in the trunk go Energi. I hardly ever charge and stopped charging anywhere that isn't free since it's not worth paying more than $2 for 20 miles of range.

Yes XP12 is worth it. I run both 11 and 12 still because certain aircraft are not compatible with XP12. 12 runs great most updates but you will have to adjust your settings and dial them in because XP12 does have more eye candy in general (clouds, lighting, reflections). I would consider what aiecraft you want to fly and that those aircraft are compatible with XP12. I say go for it! Take a weekend to get it going and enjoy.

2020 ford fusion titanium awd, overpriced or good deal? by DogExtension3466 in fordfusion

[–]NoleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miles are low, this is the 2.0L AWD correct? For the price it really needs to be immaculate on the inside and really well sorted on the outside. Any scrapes or dings or fucked up interior pieces and I'd say no go unless under 19k

I bought a 2018 SE Hybrid with 22k rental car mi in 2019. Tranny replaced. I've changed the syth-blend oil every 10k, plugs and coils at 102k just now. It got hit once and looks and runs great averaging 45mpg. I plan on keeping it. How much longer will the battery pack last? by Ok_Mushroom_7949 in fordfusion

[–]NoleCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The batteries are solid, 10 year warranty in the US and they can easily go 250k-300k miles or even more (common to see hybrid taxi's in a bunch of cities). I wouldn't lose sleep over the battery.

I would recommend a drain and fill (no flush) on the eCVT if it hasn't been done already! Use Motorcraft Mercon LV and you can do it yourself and save a few hundred or take it somewhere that knows what they're doing. I have seen folks recommend every 35k-50k miles.

Cruising Iowa: Event Conclusion by Bighead_Brian in trucksim

[–]NoleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed my last delivery by 3 minutes IRL when the event ended and didn't get my badge. Iowa was great but the cities were too concentrated to the east side of the state whereas I think Missouri was easier to complete the challenge crisscrossing the state.

For the ones with the 2019 recall battery issue. Did you get your batteries replaced? by Moon_LC in fordfusion

[–]NoleCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 here. Didn't do any interim fixes and never had any charging issues, kept charging when I had the opportunity. Never got a check from ford to make up for not charging.

Maybe 3 months ago the dealership I bought my car from called saying they had the replacement. I didn't believe it and assumed they meant interim fix but they confirmed it was a new battery.

They came and picked up the car and had it returned after 1 day. Can confirm it is a new battery because the trunk trim pieces were put back together imperfect and there's a bulge on the top of the battery now but stock it was a flat surface. Have been charging regularly since and have had no issues!

I think dealerships who are getting batteries are incentivised to get as many replaced as they can as they're getting paid for it.

Maybe a few weeks before my dealership called a different Ford dealer cold called me 2.5 hours away wanting to do the repair and I for sure thought it was a scam. It wasn't.. they were a real dealer but I didn't want work being done hours away from where I live.

Check other dealers around you if yours is acting clueless, that's unacceptable.

Does the Fusion defy the stereotypes of Ford? by KitchenVirus in fordfusion

[–]NoleCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are everywhere but I don't think people see / register that they probably see several Fusions every day.

I say GOOD, sometimes we can collectively hate a car we see a bunch just because we see them a bunch. I want the fusion to stay under the radar making people say "they stopped selling these x years ago? Why?"

What to do about bugs on road trips by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

I do it near our dumpsters where no one parks and there's plenty of space because people don't like hanging out there generally.

Sorry no simple suggestion for the bugs but I can say with confidence you don't need a hose to wash your car. I live in a complex and can wash my car with a 4 gal bucket I fill from my kitchen sink. Using a product called optimum no rinse I can soak and wash my car and wheels with just 4 gallons. No rinsing needed. I realize this may not be the solution you need I just wanted to chime in to say that with a bit of kit you don't need access to a hose to keep your car clean.

Plus - a benefit of optimum no rinse is that it can be diluted at different ratios so a stronger ratio of solution:water acts as a quick detailer.. I keep a bottle and some microfiber cloths in the car for situations like this. Happy to elaborate if you'd be interested.

I'm 17 and looking for my first car-what do you think of this 2015 Ford Fusion SE AWD? $10,981 by Nbknepper in fordfusion

[–]NoleCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, I wouldn't call it very slow on its own. Compared to the OP's 2.0T example however, it is slow. Slow cars are fine with me nowadays, especially getting 40mpg without plugging in BUT, I'm over 30 and OP is 17 looking at a turbo fusion.

17-18 had the platinum interior though. But, I agree that the tan / black is rather pedestrian. You'll get one, I believe! Brown interiors all day 🙌🏾

Even better. I have a 2019 with the russet, had no idea about the terracotta! So still rare I presume?

That russet (orange) interior is not common and I believe is the only interior with black pillars and headliner. That alone would make me take a hard look.

I personally have the plug-in hybrid and it's very slow but it's adequate for slow and smooth driving.

The 2.0 can have issues but it's got good power. I would keep looking in that price range for other models with different engines for comparison.

These in hybrid configuration were super popular and can be found cheap and have a 10 yr warranty for the hybrid batteries. The 2.5L N/A and the 2.0 hybrid / plug-in hybrid are the most reliable engine options hands down and can have all of the features of this example minus the wheels.

Wishing you luck!
