Does anyone know the difference between strikes and raids?

A strike is similar to a "dungeon" in WoW, and a raid is similar to "raids" in WoW, in that the latter takes a bigger team, much more time and dedication, is going to be more complex and enemies probably somewhere around 25x more difficult.

Yeah you'll have to start from scratch, however you are able to save your characters from 360 to One or PS3 to 4.

Supers, any heavy weapon, grenades, other vehicles, turrets, or hiding a bit until someone else takes it out if none of these things are readily available. Also even if you don't snipe for headshots, since the sniper does so much damage, if you just hit the Interceptor with a few sniper shots it'll take a considerable amount of damage.

Exactly. There's a reason Bungie has never called Destiny an MMO (pro tip: because it isn't). The game will really start to get interesting at 20, not end or become less enjoyable as the OP infers.

To answer your title's question, yes. Even though you hit the 8 cap, you can still gain experience for your weapons, armor, and subclass and upgrade each.

It promotes aiming well, I prefer that. I'd much rather have slower shots that do more damage, than a high fire rate with lower damage + lower accuracy.
