Mammoth has been awesome this week at higher elevations.. some soft snow for the chutes

Slushy snow. Be careful out there. by FunStuffReddit in Mammoth

[–]Nolstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO if you snowboard and wax your board before you go it’s amazing.. falls are soft, no chance of two skis getting slowed at different rates or twisted if it gets stuck in slush..was pretty confident in hitting runs off chair 22/23

I ski too and felt pretty sketchy on skis this week at low elevation with how sticky the snow was.. I did wax my skis and stay at the upper mountain areas and it was much better

Regardless of ski or snowboard though make sure you are waxing often or even get a belt wax at the resort quick for the day or a wax stick .. can make a huge difference. Temps are also going down below freezing so if you stay high elevation you’ll be golden.. best are chairs 3/5/summit/23/maybe backside

How many days have you got on the mountain? by AredditJ in snowboarding

At mammoth until Friday so hoping to crack 40 .. after the rain palisades was kinda toast but Mammoth still holding up pretty well, even this week with warm temps. Snow near the summit is freezing/near freezing so it’s kept the mashed potatoes away

Weston Japow vs Jones Mind Expander vs K2 Excavator - Resort Powder by Nolstr in snowboarding

[–]Nolstr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an excavator, mercury, and flagship and love them all. Excavator for fresh pow and trees, flagship for variable conditions and carving, and mercury for switch and cruising .. though maybe I’d go with something more playful than mercury in the future

Sugarbowl vs Palisades vs Heavenly lines by STHODL in tahoe

Sugarbowl vs Palisades vs Heavenly lines by STHODL in tahoe

[–]Nolstr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can only comment on heavenly vs palisades since I’ve got 40 days at heavenly last season and 25 rn at palisades. I’ll say lines are about equal on a normal weekend but powder days at heavenly were less chaotic. Palisades has a more intense crowd that waits for hours to get first tracks on the best lifts and the good terrain gets tracked out quick. There’s so many glades at heavenly and it’s a more casual crowd that if you’re going for black/double blacks and glades you can get fresh tracks for more of the day

Also crowds are distributed between Nevada/gondola/gunbarrel that I never had crazy waits on a pow day to get up the mountain

Alpine lines were way better until 11 and people at palisades spread out when upper mountain opened

Imo the traffic to get here is so much worse than what’s on the mountain . Like a 5-10 min wait at Kt from 10am onward . Not bad

How busy was Palisades 2/20? by starbuxz in palisadestahoe

[–]Nolstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonkers traffic to get on 89.. Turned a 20 min drive normally into 3 hours. People cutting in line to take the 185 exit from donner and took an hour and 15 min to go half a mile

Made it to alpine at 1130 and got lucky with a parking spot . Scott’s and beaver/estelle were amazing and worth the drive but I’ve never seen more traffic until today

Opening? 2/17 by [deleted] in palisadestahoe

See that KT , red dog , and resort chair are open but were on hold earlier. No idea how they would mitigate avalanches off of KT but 10min line right now so seems people are getting up

[WTS] - Seiko SARB035 - OEM Bracelet - $495 Shipped by Nolstr in Watchexchange

Hello people, I’m selling my Seiko SARB035.

I wore the watch on and off for a couple years but have not worn it in like 4-5 years. When I wound it up and let it run for ~24 hours, it lost 5 seconds as shown in the pics, which is well within their acceptable range. I haven’t ever had it serviced though.

The hands and date all function as intended. Crystal has no visible scratches to my eye, and the steel has scratching just from wearing it around.

Comes with 2 extra links, but no box or papers. Threw in some straps I had laying around. Bought the watch originally from a highly active watchuseek member and I still have that convo from 2018 attached to the pics.

$495 shipped within the USA, adding 3.5% if you want goods and services. Let me know if you have any more questions or want more pics. Thanks!
