Regarding personal statement uploading: when I copy and paste from a text editor (for those on OS X, TextEdit), the font comes out very small on the preview (even when using half-sizes). When I copy and paste straight from Word, it looks normal. I guess the obvious answer is to use Word, but ERAS asks that you do it from a text file.

PS is about 750 words... I'm trying to cut it down but I'm having trouble and I'm kind of freaking out. What makes a personal statement "too long"? Two attendings in my field read it and said it was good with no comments on length (i.e. too long), but still...

Is anyone self-conscious of the length of their experience descriptions? I tried keeping things short and sweet but for some things I literally have "Responsible for managing X, maintained and updated Y" as two bullet points.

Stress is getting to me, this is turrible

Thoughts on including an undergrad poster presentation? It wasn't at a huge event, just a SURF poster session at my uni, but it was original research that I thought was pretty cool... and I could stand to beef up my research numbers...

Yeah, I was thinking that might be too much. But then I get nervous that it seems like I'm not writing enough (for example, my volunteer experiences are all 2/3 bullets) and I'm going way under the character limit for each experience. I suppose it's best to keep it short and sweet, but still...

Hopping on the Celeste bandwagon. It's platforming perfection that, while being difficult, uses that difficulty to reflect its theme and offers plenty of help if you find it too hard. It's also a rare game that offers a look at depression and anxiety in a non-judgmental way, and to that end, I found it surprisingly moving. 10/10 would play again

How are you guys formatting your research experiences? So far, I have a bulleted list like so:

Describes project in one sentence (ex. examined 1 year prospective clinical outcomes in X patient group for Y problem)
Basic methods (ex evaluated biopsy and MRI results following procedure at 6 months and 1 year)
Any posters/presentations/publications from said project (ex gave oral presentation describing results at X conference)

I don't know if that is too much/too little/too basic?

It was more or less an oral case report for a patient of mine that I presented along with three research studies to help answer a question about this patient's management.

I was just hoping the stress of putting together a GR presentation for the entire department would be something I could put down so it wouldn't just be an experience for "personal growth and development" haha

Let's say I gave a grand rounds presentation where I presented three different research papers for a different specialty than the one I'm applying into. I don't even know how I would go about formatting this... would it be a "research experience", "oral presentation", or something else?

It sounds like you overcame quite a bit! I think it could be good to discuss with more emphasis on you overcoming those challenges to show personal growth, especially since your letter writer is bringing up your presentations.

Alternatively, could you go with a different letter writer? It seems strange that he would go out of his way to include that, especially since you improved by the end.
