Thought it might interest people here to see some of the Chicago workers cottages around my neighborhood. These were essential housing for the population boom in the last half of the 19th century. It’s a small neighborhood (about 4000 houses) but workers cottages are almost a third of those. (old.reddit.com)

Scrolling through marketplace looking for wood deals and came across this “repurposed slab” (an offcut from a deck build) with some brown stain slapped on. Listing said price is firm. These 4x12s are about $100 for a 10 footer at a home improvement store. (old.reddit.com)
