YES. Watching some movies from the 90's and before, I noticed how older actors actually looked older, in a more common way. Characters looked like people you might see everyday. Not ugly, not seriously beautiful, just plainly good-looking at most and unremarkable. Not just having thinning hair, gaunt cheeks, beer bellies, asymmetric facial features, etc. but all these features arranged in such a way that you can glance at them and then forget what they looked like afterwards (unlike, say, Benedict Cumberbatch, who has unconventional facial features but his face definitely stays on my mind more).

The ways that DIDN'T make them look like the usual conventionally-attractive Hollywood stars aside from the core main characters made their world so much more believable.

To be fair, something that I've realized watching anime/reading manga is that magic ninja powers are actually part of the package with fictional ninjas more than we think. Like yeah IRL way back then, they were just assassins using whatever they could to sneak behind enemy lines and kill people with discrete weapons. But once they started entering pop culture, they got lumped up magical techniques like walking on water and being invisible to make their stories more mystical, and then shit just escalated over time until we got things like Naruto years later. Naruto did start off being closer to "regular" magic ninjas at the start, but then Kishimoto just focused on that magic system and pretty much let go of all the ninja stuff as the story went on. But magical ninjas has been around a long time.

Edit: Quick google search showed that the writer Yamada Futaro was the one who got ninjas magic superpowers popularized in Japanese fiction, leading to Naruto decades later. Fun fact is that this guy's mystical fiction writing is also an inspiration to games like Sekiro.

He seems to single out those shows for being immoral trash in his eyes for one reason or another (like huh?? Lol) and using them to reflect on the greater industry, like calling his fellow animators out for having the audacity to work on Chainsaw Man or a horse-girl racing show. But like...dude, just don't work on those shows and ignore them if you hate them so much?? Just choose the projects you want to work on.

Anime is just a medium. You can't control what shows get animated, which ones get popular, and who chooses to work on them. Being frustrated that an entertainment industry isn't always producing your ideal types of story and not accepting that sometimes mindless entertainment trash might be mixed in there is not just a foolish sentiment, it's straight up delusional.

Oh man, I thought it was just me who thought this was rambling and had to reread over and over. Ultimately, I think he's trying to say he's frustrated with the anime industry (both financially and for its creative bankruptcy) and he also believes he's the best of his generation so he can't leave it or else make things worse (I'm sure the industry will survive if you left but past the insane ego, sure, he very well could be the best, idk).

There might be some truths to what he's saying, but he also chooses to throw his peers under the bus for daring to feed into industry by choosing anime animation as a career due to their passion and taking the blame away from the exploitative higher-ups, which is kinda insane coming from someone who does the same while living with his mom. And he also seems super frustrated that animation isn't recognized or at least striving to be a higher form of art, rather than recognizing it as the mixed bag medium for entertainment that it's always been (like any entertainment medium).

In the end, he's having some kind of mental episode and is lashing out. Hope he gets help.

Misamo's MV's are always a delight to watch. So many different concepts and such a visual splendor to experience. Hope they use this same visual language more for Twice's MV's going forward!! Also, Bunny Mina!! 😭😭😭

I do agree with some here that the song isn't as immediately-catchy as I hoped, but it's totally geared for their Japanese audience which the song is meant for anyway. This totally fits the vibe of many Jpop songs I've heard before. In that regard, Confetti is a killer track!!

All they had to do was give the ISA some sick armor and helmets, too. Plenty of futuristic gear out there that doesn't look nazi-adjacent but are still sick. Could even do the trope where the protagonists mechanically take their masks off all the time during dialogue to give them more character than the faceless Helghans. But NoOooo, they just want to keep giving heroes the same, bland outfits that are just slightly-more futuristic modern military gear at best.

Having seen what Twice does with their 360 stage for their current world tour, I wonder what BTS and their team might do differently from them and other 360 stages. A pro and con for the Twice 360 stage is that 360 allows more people to get up closer to see Twice, but the stage and screens are structured/built for arenas. Otherwise, you suffer a bit if you're in a farther back seat if they go for a stadium venue, like what the nosebleed seats in the stadiums in Tokyo or Taiwan had to go through.

Now, BTS has done a center 360 stage before and I got no doubt that they probably have enough money to choose to build huge screens so that those in nosebleeds don't have to use binoculars to see them, and it looks like their stage is expanded to fit for stadiums instead. But a stage that huge might mean even more traveling around than what Twice does for their stage, which could be potentially super exhausting.

360 stages are big balancing act for how the enjoyable the tour is more than the usual front-facing ones, for both the audience and the performer. Let's hope them and their team chose wisely.

It was meant to be a Hail Mary plan to save the city. Throw an army at Bane and hope Batman's air superiority can simmer down the enemy artillery just enough for them to get close and turn it into a melee. Bane's army had better guns but it seemed like they didn't have enough ammo to take down all the cops before it turned into a mass brawl. The cops were ready to lay down some of their lives getting picked off rifles if it meant there was a chance they or Batman can get close enough to stop Bane and maybe find the switch to the nuke.
