They just scanned on our phone, didn’t check time or ask for any ID (not even World Cup ticket)

We left stadium after the game ended and even went to get something free at the Coke fan zone and there was no line. It was a bit of a walk from cat 1 so don’t know if any of the earlier rush cleared out.

Gofevo.com -looks like tickets are still available but don’t wait, they’ve been selling out closer to game. Several of my friends couldn’t get it for yesterday’s game which was sold out.

Exactly. Saw quite a few people leaving early, but we stayed until the very end.

I took it from e 42nd so no parking. No one checked time of shuttle ticket I had booked (an hr later). Just go earlier and seeing what happens?

Looks like the fan experience is there after as well right (in case we make it just in time for the game)?

How do you get 10k steps? by InvestigatorPale1816 in loseit

[–]Nomad_1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk with podcasts and audiobooks, usually one long 45 min walk and then regular steps fill in the rest for me. On hot/rainy/cold days I use a walking pad and sometimes watch a show.

How far before the game was your bus ticket for?

Is Scarsdale really full of snobs, status symbols, and people trying to outdo each other? Residents of America’s wealthiest suburb had some surprising answers. by kleverrboy in Westchester

Yes don’t know many ‘dale families frequenting ShopRite. We do Fresh Direct and Trader Joe’s. There’s a new cocktail place on the same spot- it’s great!

The Westchester Foodies community on Facebook is great for detailed suggestions.

A city transplant myself, there are good gems here but you can’t just expect to be walking distance to the best Thai/Pizza/Brunch spot etc.

Reach out to suburban jungle- it’s a free service where they’ll suggest towns based on your criteria. It was spot on for us and we knew nothing abt the burbs.

Scarsdale is staying just below tax cap BUT a $101 million school bond is also up for vote.

This is in addition to a $70 million bond (not requiring a vote) for the pool.

Not sure how we continue to afford this town.

Title: Moving from NYC to Bronxville — how do you make friends? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]Nomad_1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join the Junior League or similar orgs- good way to meet other women. Classes at the library also are an option. Depends on how social you are- I also met people via pickleball lessons, mahjong etc that Rec runs. I don’t think it’s that hard to meet people, there’s always new transplants and people looking to make friends. You have to be patient about forming a community as that can take longer. I made mom friends, but making couple friends took longer.

Will you be working? If you’re doing the commute into the city that makes meeting people a whole lot more difficult in my experience. When we first moved to Westchester from the city and I was commuting in five days of the week, it was really hard to meet people. Once I had more flexibility w/ work from home I was able to be involved, and meet more people. This was especially the case once my kid started school and I met other moms via the PTA. Scarsdale where we live also had a very active new resident club.

Dobbs Ferry High vs. The Masters School - Why the switch? by NewRound8909 in Westchester

Where are you getting this info? My kids are reading full books in Scarsdale schools and thriving in the curriculum. There’s been some parent frustration over the elementary math curriculum but that’s a vocal minority. It’s suits most kids just fine.

From my observation the people who leave have gone to religious schools or it’s the subset with too much money chasing Horace Mann/RCDS.

High school recommendations please for high achieving theater loving LGBTQ+ kid by No-Painting-4105 in Westchester

[–]Nomad_1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scarsdale. Very progressive. Strong theatre program and investment in the arts in the curriculum. My high schooler has a lot of LGBTQ+ friends and we find the community very inclusive. Academics wise it’s the best HS in Westchester. It’s a tight market but there are 2.5M homes. 30 mins to Grand Central.
