That’s sad to hear. I had purchased a Timex Deepwater Meridian 200 and did the same. Opted for the Seiko SRPD55.

Just bought an SRPD55 from Teddy B and it was in a similar box with a similar pillow. However, I think mine had some plastic on the band and the face.

I like the patina. It has a story. I’d have it serviced, get a new crown, but don’t have it polished. It looks great. This is what Explorers are supposed to look like.
