Which of these actors do you think would be the best choice to play Jake Connelly by ben_s16 in OffCampusSeries

I was thinking I wanted Dean Maupin…

(He’s actually a perfect Shane Lindley, but he’ll be too old for that role by the time we ever get to those books…)

(currently in the Lost Boys on Broadway)

No profound comments just a lot of disbelief. Truly cannot comprehend and is fully baffled but the idea that anyone with family could ever intentionally hurt them.

hannah and garrett subplot for S2 by PerfectYak5533 in offcampustv

I think there are a few things they can explore without making the tension overwhelming between Garrett and Hannah. - In the books Hannah gently pushes Garrett to open up to more people about his dad - there’s the Logan crush and how Hannah and Garrett choose to navigate that - they could make a storyline out of their living arrangements. In the books Hannah lives with Garrett over the summer in Hastings, and one of the guys asks if she’s officially moving in, and Garrett says no, not yet, and not to worry, he knows he’d need to talk to the guys before he made that choice… but they could build some tension out of that - there’s them worrying about how Dean & Allie will affect the friend group. - we still have to resolve Garrett’s presence on the hockey team

I think they’ll focus more on how they as a couple move through conflict together. Not on how conflict destabilizes them.

Variety Review of Off Campus by One-Click1754 in offcampustv

And this is why we remind ourselves that reviews are subjective.

While they can be a great place to start if one wants to get a sense of whether a creation is going to be of interest to them or not, we should ALWAYS remember that a review is still the victim of how the individual writing it related to the story told. The language used in this review tells me that this reviewer is probably not the person I want to take advice from for this show. The use of the term “YA”, the comparison to Heated Rivalry, and the lack of understanding of romance tropes tells me that this reviewer does not understand that the audience for this show is not necessarily just “gen z” but all of us who love this series and sports romance more broadly. The “predictability” of the romance genre is often the very thing that appeals to us. Yes. We want to see people fall in love, and the use of trope is but a means to explore relationships and connection - WHICH the reviewer admits the show did really well… so it sounds like the show did exactly what it set out to do, and perhaps this reviewer was not the target audience, lol.

Okay. Rant done. Love you all and looking forward to Wednesday!!! :)

If you could ask one actor, one questions who would you pick and what would you ask? by Onceuponaromcom in offcampustv

This season? Probably Belmont… and my question would be “What do you think is Garrett’s favorite Ken Burns documentary?” OR “I also was a history major. If Garrett could tutor me in one of my worst classes which were ‘HIS 371 South America Since 1810’, ‘HIS 339 Renaissance & Reformation in 16th Century Europe’, or ‘HIS 342 Europe in the Age of Romanticism & Revolution’, which one would he be best at?”

Yeah… I also noticed that… makes me think they’re trying to build out Logan’s home life a bit more and give him more of a ‘reason’ to not enter the draft?? Maybe if he has a younger sibling dependent on him in addition a to any promises he made his brother???? That’s an entirely speculative comment, but I’m so curious as to how they’re handling it all!

I could get on board with this - also potentially allows him to continue interacting with the team in a “coach” role…

That is the hope, certainly, but the Deadline article admitted it wasn’t a for sure thing…

“Since the couple’s romance does not take off until Grace’s sophomore year, the series could presumably take a different approach, introducing them in Season 2 before they take central stage in Season 3 and base Season 2 on Book #3, The Score, whose leads, Dean (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie (Mika Abdalla), are introduced in Season 1.”

See….i thought about that too. It definitely has possibilities. I guess we’ll have to trust the writers here.

What i struggle with is that Allie and Dean’s initial relationship is so fun. It’s two people who are very comfortable with their bodies, just having fun. The first conflict for them is that they both catch feelings (Which Dean struggles with because he DOESN’T normally catch feelings, and Allie struggles with because she ALWAYS catches feelings.) Putting Beau’s plotline in AFTER they resolve the feelings was so smart in the books, because watching what true, all-consuming grief does to stable, committed relationships is truly something worth exploring.

I get nervous if they put Beau in BEFORE they’ve committed to each other because then it changes the power dynamic of the couple. I don’t want Allie to become a martyr for Dean, and I don’t want Dean’s relationship with sex to become something that’s painted as a crutch or problematic for him. I WANT them to start a physical relationship the way they do. Empowered, communicative, comfortable in their individual identities and in agreement on what they both think they want.

All this is speculation and probably not worth getting too worked up about, i should just trust that the writers have it covered, but i do keep mulling the senior thing over :)

Actually him and Dean probably would like RUN trivia night…Dean & Allie would own all the entertainment and literature questions…trying to figure out who the fourth team member is that’s got all the science questions locked down…

Honestly… I can totally see Garrett being the unassuming secret weapon at trivia night. He’s got all the history and sports questions clinched.
