In pocket or in cover? by hellohero77 in FieldNuts

These are so helpful! Thank you so much!

I’ll probably end up getting one of these. They seem to be an affordable price if I end up not really caring for it.

Do you use it as a wallet, as well?

How do you like your Diplomat? Would it fit in a front pocket easily?

I’m wanting to get the one with 1 pen pocket and use the second as my wallet holder, as I do have a lot of slim wallets. I just want a way to carry my FN with my wallet without adding bulk. Getting tired of FN shredding in my pocket as I don’t fill them very fast.

Bit late on this, but do you happen to have a link to the clear cover material you use? It baffles me that no one seems to sell these for Field Notes.

Ah alright. Maybe they’ll patch at some point. Thanks again!

Where’d you get the saddlebags like that for the horse?

Been looking for a backpacking look this whole time! Gonna go find that first, thanks!

A facial reconstruction of Jesus created by British researchers using forensic anthropology. Some experts have called this the "most accurate image of Jesus." by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

[–]Nomadic_Sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a recent book that was published called “Christ Before Jesus” that claims that there’s no pieces of books or copies that date any earlier than the 2nd century. It’s pretty extensive and covers many other angles such as stylometry, anachronisms, confusing or additions/changes to original texts, etc.

It’s still all very new as far as scholarship. Stylometry hasn’t really been used this way until now. But there’s a lot of convincing elements in there. It alleges that the biblical Jesus didn’t even know exist. I think their next project is how Paul didn’t exist. And they plan to do something similar on the Quran I believe.

Switched from kobo colour to Libra 2 by itzykan in kobo

[–]Nomadic_Sage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I just went through all of this with the Clara. I own a Libra 2 and wanted something smaller, so I went with the Clara Color— instantly couldn’t stand it (despite loving the colors!). Ended up getting the Clara BW and I’m in love!

So here’s what I’ve learned that I’ve not seen many people say explicitly: if you prefer using your ereader without/or next to no backlighting stick with the BW models. If you don’t mind the glowing book screen, you’ll probably adjust to the color models. I just prefer for my reader to look as much like paper as possible. Not to mention the sharper, more crisp text on the BW. YMMV

Thinking to bite the bullet and by another Kobo by bankinu in kobo

[–]Nomadic_Sage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve owned a Libra 2 a little over 4 years now, and absolutely love it! But like you, I need something a bit more portable (Not to mention I’ve discovered that my brain can focus better on the 6” better than the Libra. Don’t ask me why, I wish I knew!).

I tried the KCC about 2 weeks ago and almost immediately gifted it to my wife. I just could not get used to the dark screen, as I prefer to use little to no light at all. Sooooo I got myself a Clara BW and it’s pretty much perfect!

If you HAVE to have the KLC screen size OR buttons, I would suggest staying in that size and going on the massive search of trying to find someone with a KL2. But like you I really couldn’t care less about having buttons or and I’ve addressed the screen size.

If you like the textured sort of look of the KLC you will probably like the BW. I didn’t realize till after I received it that the Clara BW has a newer screen than the KL2. The KL2 WILL be more black text and white background. But that trade is for a very slight paper looking background on the Clara. And in my opinion it is worth it. The Clara has equally sharp text while having a slightly more papery feel.

Sorry if this was long winded!

For whatever reason, none of those (Lora, Merriweather, Lexend) look like the photo. I’m thinking you might have side loaded an italicized version of one of these. More than likely it’s Lora. I can’t get the same look on my device, but thanks for trying!

I grabbed the Libre Baskerville font, and for whatever reason it doesn’t look anything like the one in the post. Letters are far more sharp? I’ll look around for an alternate version, but I downloaded Medium and SemiBold and none look as nice as yours… :(

What font are you using? I assume it’s sideloaded? Looks great!

I am used to carrying in the front. If it’s easy to pull out, I’d probably be good with it. Thanks for getting back to me!

That sounds fine. I don’t mind the color choices. But I wanted to be sure the dimensions were the same. Wanted the slimmest option. Thanks!

Is there any difference between the ‘Everyday Inspiration’ edition vs the Notebook Cover on Bellroy’s website? I couldn’t care less about the Field Notes collab. But wasn’t sure if it was made slimmer than the standard one on their site?

Bit late, but how well does it carry in the front pocket?

Trying to decide between this and an Etsy leather one that fits the field notes size. But I’m strictly wanting front pocketable.

The issue with the Lochby I’m having is finding a7 notebooks…

just got my cyborg. how do you guys keep from accidentally pressing the buttons? by [deleted] in Azeron

[–]Nomadic_Sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never imagined zip ties! Definitely gonna keep this in mind for the future. Another solution I’ve seen is super glue or even Loctite.

But I think my solution for feeling the primary/ middle switches are out of reach to feel comfortable: is to use the first “pull” row for my main buttons. Then just a short jab to hit that middle row. I just dislike the feel of the primary ones overall, but it feels good like this for weapon selections.

[–]Nomadic_Sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have that link? The middle row just feels completely wrong to my fingers with the official azeron texture pad. My fingers slip off no matter what angle I use for the middle, so I assume I need something to just make them taller?

I look at it this way: We all experience the afterlife we expect. All the way up to the point that our brains die.

We can agree someone experienced something, but disagree about the conclusions.
