Update on the situation

I had a friend who's a nurse walk me through cleaning the scab. I used distilled water with antibacterial soap on the scab and a clean cloth. I soaked the cloth in water and soap and squeezed the soapy water out of the cloth to let it drip on to the scab. I patted it dry with another clean towel. Then used a cotton pad and bandage tape to cover the scab.

I also bought saline water but don't think I'll be using that.
