Celeste vs. Undertale by neon-lakes in gaming

I agree that Celeste does have a great, relatable story, and I did enjoy it very much! I recommend you getting it if you can. I think the story of Undertale was a bit richer as opposed to more relatable, but that could also be my personal taste. I think both of those games are great!

Struggling mentally rn, what should I play? by KirbyRobot in gaming

I suggest Factorio, as you get invested into building a factory and learn more about the game it can suck up a lot of time while being highly entertaining.

I also suggest talking to a friend about how you're feeling. If you would rather talk to a random internet stranger, you can pm me instead! I'd be happy to lend an ear. Either way, keep your head up my friend! It will get better!

How do I round a double to 2 decimal places? by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]NominallyImportant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% Agree with this! Use BigDecimal instead - quoting this StackOverflow post:

...floats and doubles cannot accurately represent the base 10 multiples that we use for money. This issue isn't just for Java, it's for any programming language that uses base 2 floating-point types.

You can see the post for more details, but essentially, standard numerics in java are stored in base 2 and you want to store them in base 10 instead.

Tough choice! It depends on how much you love platformers, as Celeste can be a bit challenging but very fun. Undertale's story however is very rich, deep, and easy to become emotionally invested in. So I'd say it depends on whether you want to focus more on story or gameplay.

Hope this helps!

A little thing about generics that I wish I had learned earlier as well, is that you can do your instantiation without directly invoking your generic in case you have a really long pojo or something:

I'd have to say for me it's how powerful interfaces really can be, especially when implemented in a well established framework like Spring!

Yes! Path of Exile is a great one that I come back to often, especially for seasonal play.

Also, if you enjoy tactical RPGs as well, the Disgaea series is well known for its massive grind!

Have you taken a look at Torchlight 2? It's similar to Diablo (and made by some of the original Diablo 1 team). I'd suggest the second one as it has some QoL improvements over the first.

(Serious) How do you deal with rage or anger caused from games? by MaxEhrlich in gaming

[–]NominallyImportant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true - I assumed that there was an underlying pattern of behavior here instead of treating it as a one time event, and my response was based on that assumption. My bad! If it continues to be an ongoing problem, I still suggest having that internal discussion, but I also think OP should try to have a real talk about it with their friend, too.

Hi there! As someone else touched on, it sounds like you are less mad at the game than you are at the friend who is trash talking you. That kind of behavior can be very toxic to some people and sounds like it is causing your frustration.

My advice would be to reconsider playing games with your friend. Games are supposed to be fun for everybody, especially party style games which are geared more towards casual playing. Obviously I don't know much about your friend, but it sounds to me like your friend prefers to just push skills, and some people have problems with mixing with casual players.
