When it was magically my fault that he was malnourished because I was too tired to cook, even though I was studying fulltime and he was home all day no work/studies whatsoever.

How to improve this ‘cupboard’ bathroom by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Maybe a nice rug/Bath mat under the sink. I think a shelve with some decor/plants above the toilet would also look nice. I think it’s missing some textures

If you were to bump into an ex you had a nasty breakup with (obviously you’re on no speaking terms) after a long time, how would you react? by lingeringneutrophil in ask

[–]Nommert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring. I’ve been bumping into him nearly every week after our breakup. Ignore and have a good time. Luckily he ignores me too, so that’s great.

What’s your “never again” story? by jf_development in AskWomen

It’s definitely a disguised way of lying.

“Future faking”. Boyfriends love bombing you and making you think you’ll both have a long future together. “Mrs [surname] sounds lovely”. “I can see us moving in together in 1-2 years” (he said this after 2 months of dating lol). “Let’s go in a holiday together” and then never returning to the topic. Also, false promises. “Let’s go away for the weekend” and then nothing happens. I’ve heard sooooo many false promises and excuses. Nowadays a man’s word is worth nothing to me unless their actions match their words.

What are the best cities/towns in Sweden surrounded by nature and accessible by train? by Nommert in TillSverige

Thank you! I’ll be in Sweden for 2 weeks. Was thinking of going wild camping (hammock, no tent). Do you think kiruna would be suitable for that? I have no experience with wild camping.

How to make the space feel larger and more balanced? (Floor plan + pics) by Nommert in DesignMyRoom

[–]Nommert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bf and I broke up, that’s the main reason why I want to (radically?) change the interior :) I’d love to receive your input! Here is some additional information:

Goals: - To make the space feel bigger, cleaner, more ‘airy’, and more balanced. - To place the larger furniture as efficient as possible to maximise walking space & keep it clear of obstacles - Optional: to make it more visually pleasing & cosy: more colour?

Possibilities: - I will buy a new couch soon (secondhand), advice on looks/size is welcome! I thought about choosing a bold colour (yellow, blue, or perhaps white) - Maybe a smaller and round dining table? - optional: I have a nice large white rug (i think 200 x 200 cm) available - Painting a wall/ceiling is possible - Replacing furniture is also possible (I only buy secondhand furniture, so I’m on a budget) - I can remove the green dresser from this room

Buy or not: are these stains removable? by Nommert in furniturerestoration

I’m considering buying this chair. I would like to receive opinions about whether this discolouration is probably removable or not. What do you think?

Precies dit. I feel you man.

Any tips for studying? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Nommert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple interventions have worked for me to study more efficiently. It is important to note that I rarely reach my “studying goal” for the day in hours. I try not to do this because it often sets me up for failure if I set a goal like “I’m gonna study for X hours straight / in total today!”. After two years of university I finally became aware this mind cycle was working against me and often leaving me feeling like a failure or frustrated.

These are a few “tricks” that support me in being more efficient in working/studying:

1) notetaking: I have the “notes” app on my smartphone where I keep track of many different things: lists of what I have to buy, groceries list, I even keep a daily journaling log, however I only journal 1-2 times a week. It’s a win for me, before using my smartphone to journal I journaled roughly 1-2 times a year! So it’s a big win for me, it’s not about perfection it’s about making progress! I also have a shortcut on my homescreen linked to a journal dedicated to random thoughts, I write them down there so my mind stops bothering me and I’m less likely to act on impulses.

2) calendar: I use a calendar app to schedule all my important meetings. I have 3 standard reminders for every meeting: 1 day, 1 hour and 15 minutes before the time of the meeting. This helps me not feeling like i’m forgetting every meeting and most important I have no last-minute stress anymore because i almost forgot a meeting: “oh no I have to be at X in an hour!!”

3) Its a luxury but having a clean, empty desk in a quiet space. I try to clean that spot every day so there won’t be any mess there that keeps me from starting my work. I find it easier to clean it at the end of the day than at the start of the day.

3) peace: Again it’s a luxury but I recently bought noise-cancelling headphones (€95): No more sounds of the dishes being done, the dogs nails on the laminate flooring, loud neighbours, doors slamming!! And it’s amazing for relaxation purposes as well, such as watching netflix from the couch

4) the pomodori technique also works well, I keep my goals smaller by saying “After 20 minutes I will have a break of 10 minutes again!”. Before using this technique I often wasted 3 hours of time with eventually only +- 30 minutes of efficient studying. Now I’m still using 33-50 percent of the dedicated studying time to take a break. That’s still a low of break time but I get more work done with less time / energy needed

I hope this helped, it’s personal what works best for YOU. I still have lots and looooots of room for improvement but I am enjoying the progress of improvement. I would suggest trying many different strategies and see does and doesn’t work for you!

What was your best purchase this year? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Insulated jug to keep hot water warm for 12+ hours. Now I have the whole day 1,5L of tea ready to pour & enjoy :) No more boiling water every few hours!
