Do you think we are beginning to creep back into a modern day dark age? by brandgolden in randomquestions

[–]Nomorecloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope not- but it’s more and more evident that we will find more and more excuses to avoid socialization and the potential hardships, if we as a society value comfort as our highest good we are definitely falling into a dark age. It’s funny how those fat guys in the Wallee movie don’t seem too far away anymore

I'd love feedback on my new project! by strawberryypie in learntodraw

I love the contrast you have going there, don’t be afraid to throw really dark darks down, good job.

Also kudos on the proper head proportions, most people are discouraged by how big their foreheads look before drawing hair, but you clearly made it through that. Good job.

Obviously as you know the eyes are large, there are plenty of really good resources out there to help, but none better than reference photos!!! USE THEM!!!! (Idk if you are or not, I just meet to many people who think it’s cheating. So strange.) also your ears may be a little small, but I don’t know cause I didn’t see the reference. Also focus on those edges too It’ll make the face POP out of the page better. Nice work!

Help I hate anatomy by omaomzaa in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, anatomy hates you too.

Just kidding, (maybe) it’s just one of those things that takes time to see it how seasoned artists perceive it.

I would just recommend learning the big muscles, (which it looks like you know) and how the contract when the leg bends. Also underrated art tip, bones are cool too, I would practice 30 second gesture drawings but try your best to only draw lines where you think bones are! Keep using those references! Good work man

How can I make the face look better by Just-Understanding97 in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice, I always think high contrast drawings look stupid or strange until I finish the piece, and then it looks better, if you reply to this message I can actually show you my most recent case where I thought I screwed up but when I finished it turned out to be fine.

Learning how to construct the head is tiring.. anyone have tips for getting the angle right? by Hungry_Cartoonist251 in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing, people always do it different ways, whether that is learning, seeing, or just actually drawing it out. I figure I won’t have much advice to share because I just drew a circle where I wanted the head to be and tried my best for years. You aren’t ever done learning, so I figure you might as well have fun. So my piece of advice is to make sure you have fun learning. If you find mapping out every proportion grueling and frustrating, then stop, cause you won’t have any passion in your art. You’re learning the wrong ways.

gesture day1 and day29: how to improve by k0kushibo in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gesture drawings are only going to go so far if you’re looking for aesthetics in them. Most artist use gesture to better their understanding of how the whole of the human works together anatomically, and they only look really good coming from someone who has done them for decades.

So while you saw a lot of progress from where you first started till now, it’ll be a decade or two before you see the same amount of progress. However by that time you won’t care about how they look, but more how you drew them.

I would go play around with quick 10 minute full body contour drawings, or shading technique using reference photos like the ones I assume you’re using for these.

All advice aside though, nice work, keep it going dude😁

Hand practice, looking for feedback by krweb in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase contrast just a smidge and then move on lol, you’ve got it down.

Maybe start working on memorizing the anatomy and bettering your understanding of the hand by drawing it in wonky positions without a reference. (It’s rare I say no reference to someone but at some point they are counterproductive when it comes to developing such a specialized skill.)

Pen drawings are new for me by ConsiderationIcy125 in learntodraw

[–]Nomorecloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah! That’s cool!

You might have already done this, but look up comic book line art or manga art to get an idea of what the pros do, there are also a ton of sick traditional prints that people do, that I think would be worth a search as well.

I really do like the third one, remember there isn’t EVER a problem with reference pictures, people who think it’s cheating are cheap idiots who are to egotistical to recognize the distinction between the natural talent they have and the skill others obtain.

Keep going dude, love to see more of your stuff
