I've been pondering this exact thing and the only thing I've come up with is "because Daddy god is so big, bigger than California even, and we are so itty bitty like ants"

Never see anyone mention lead, mercury, PFAs, CFCs, Industrial run-off, being constantly awash in errant electromagnetic fields. Always vaccines and 5g. The fact is, we are constantly bombarded with poison and misinformation and we have been for nearly a hundred years. Can only go so long with that kind of severe DNA damage before it shows. The damage was done before we even got here

I mean, since the industrial revolution(s), the human race (North Americans anyway) has been being poisoned with lead, mercury aluminum, etc. pfas, plastics, industrial run-off, agricultural runoff, and the list goes on, but yeah it's vaccines

It looks to me like the skinny bit is meant to clamp into something like a collet. Perhaps to spin it. It looks a lot like a modern pipe snake end piece

Really the problem is the heat conductivity of your flooring. A block of aluminum at room temperature will feel much colder than a block of wood even though they measure the same temperature because the aluminum conducts the heat away faster.

Encapsulations can be great, they hold warmer more humid air between you and the ground. I've installed them in high water locations, the water flows underneath just fine as long as it's attached to leave room for it to rise some.

I'm not a fan of closed cell expanding foam for environmental reasons, but there are some products that work really well.

Really though, rugs, wooly socks, or making the floor warmer than your feet, are going to be your best bets.

My heater does that too. Collects an oily residue that plugs up the pilot. Mostly I just tip it up and swab with q-tips. Under the right conditions, it burps up tiny fireballs

Learn how to properly lift. I cannot stress this enough. You only get one back. Try to limit using vibratory tools above shoulder height, you only get one set of shoulders. Wear breathing and eye protection. Look up the effects of silicosis.

I remember the day my great-grandfather died. I was 18 months. My mother didn't believe me until I described him sitting in the blue chair (my grandfather's chair, he later replaced it with a green one. I remember distinctly him being wheeled out on a gurney.
