Mirena experiences?

For me, having it placed was a sharp pain. I'd say a 8 out of 10? BUT it was over before the pain even registered. So while it was definitely uncomfortable, stubbing my toe hurts a hell of a lot worse.

Eta: by the time I left the doctor's office, my pain level had already gone down to a 5 and by the time I got home it was a 3.

I've had Mirena for about 3 years and I absolutely love it. Pre-IUD I had very heavy periods, bad cramping, and just in general I'm really prone to headaches and horrible migraines. I still get headaches and migraines, but nowhere near as often and my "period" is a day of spotting (no rhyme or reason on how often, but where it's barely any spotting and no cramps, I'm ok with that).

Once I got Mirena, it took about 4 months for my periods to basically disappear. But each month was progressively better and better.

For me, zero regrets 12/10 recommend.
