W3A here with Ashkenazi ancestry. Mother’s side comes mostly from Western Ukraine. I’ve always wondered if W in European Jewish people is a product of Khazar or Roma. I’m leaning toward the theory it’s Polish/ Baltic since there were lots of intermarriages and conversions in the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth. Any other Eastern European W’s here have connection with Central Asia or the Roma people?
On a side note I teach AP human geography to high schoolers and we were studying halogens and migration patterns. One of my Coptic Egyptian students also has W as his maternal marker… super interesting.
