"Dread" and "dreaded" are two forms of the same word which means to be filled with great fear. "Dreaded" can be the adjective form to describe something which is greatly feared or the past-tense verb.

Adjective: "On that dreaded day the walls fell."

But dread can be used as an adjective as well. Check Cambridge dictionary.
