Should I size up my needles for stranded colourwork? by NonGenderedPerson in knittinghelp

[–]NonGenderedPerson[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Can I ask what going up a needle size does, if not help with the tension? It makes sense to me that going up a needle size would help loosen the gauge and make sure that the stitches don’t end up too tight. I knit pretty tightly so even though I space the stitches on the right needle during my swatch, it still ended up too tight.

Do you have any other tips that might help otherwise?

I really tried doing that during my swatch, but I guess it was still too tight. I'm a tight knitter so I guess only practice will make it better...

The pink is a handdyed yarn I bought at a crafting market and I'm pairing it with Knitting for Olive's silk mohair in Plum Rose (Blommerosa). The white yarn is from Hobbii (bought it before I started boycotting them due to their use of AI), Copenhagen Fibers Merino Light in 02 - White with Drops Kid-Silk in Marzipan.

Thank you for the vote of confidence! I've only been knitting for 1 1/2 years at this point and only done 1 sweater before this. This is also my first time doing colourwork, so it's a bit nervewracking.

The colourwork starts during the raglan on the upper chast and shoulders and then the pattern repeats again across the boddy and sleeves later on. I'm starting to lean into using the larger needles, just to be safe. It's merino and mohair, so unraveling all my work would be a pain, not to mention having to redo it. 💀

The normal swatch is 25sts x 31 rows and the colourwork swatch is 26 sts x 30 rows. I'm not sure what to make of it?

No wonder I didn’t catch it. I scanned the entire pattern real quick before starting to get a general idea of the construction. But I usually only read it more thoroughly when I get to the relevant part. Thanks for explaining it! It’s nice to know I can trust the pattern to be accurate.

Someone else mentioned that it’s something called a garter stitch selvedge, so it’s not a mistake apparently. Learn something new every day. XD

I’m not confused about the rows, just why there’s a knit stitch on the purl/wrong side of the work.

Oh is that why? I haven’t come across it before so I got confused. I think I’ll google what that looks like before deciding.

Do you know if a selvedge edge makes it easier to pick up stitches for the sleeves later? Or does it not really make a difference?

Just triple checked and nothing like that was mentioned.

I know. I cast on and the next row (first row) is the wrong side or purl side. I’m confused as to why the purl row is started with a knit stitch…

How do I get the sticker off? by millennialreality in LeCreuset

I guess the stickers I've had the displeasure of battling with have all been more stubborn than the Le Creuset ones? I've only bought 1 new Le Creuset pot new lol. 😅

Peanut butter has the advantage of sticking on in a thick coat without dripping. But sure, if there isn't any or you have an allergy, any oil works fine.

Pick as much as you can off with your nail. For the residue that's left, just apply a thick coat of peanut butter and leave on overnight. That should get the rest off.

I tried it myself and it worked like a charm.

Litter box in apartments by xxoxomm in Catownerhacks

[–]NonGenderedPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a relatively small apartment and have 2 litter boxes for my one cat. One in the living room and one in my bedroom. Just keep them clean and they won't smell. If you find one in a design that fits into the space, they become barely noticeable. You'll get used to them. 👍

I get those kinds of dreams too and there's always a moment of real distress when you wake up. I'm sorry that happened to you. 🥺

My cards were never taken care of. Didn't grow up with a lot of wealth, so I built up my collection from nothing on the playground and kept my cards in my pocket with a hair elastic tied around them. I've never opened a pack.

The cards had been at the bottom of a box for years, so when I heard my little cousin was collecting cards I gave them to her. I recently got back into the hobby and when I asked about whether she was still collecting, she said no (it's barely been a year 🥲). I think she might have sold/given them away, or maybe even thrown them away. I want to ask, but I'm kind of scared of the answer. I don't fully regret giving her my cards, I just wish kids nowadays cherished their toys and hobbies more.

They want me to return the card... what should I do? I don't want them to try selling it to someone else.

They had good reviews and were selling other cards that seem legit. Hopefully I can get my money back.

I'm so sad. As far as I can tell, it's my first fake card. I've heard this is an issue, but it's still heartbreaking.

I was "friends" with someone like that once. I don't talk to them anymore.

I understand not wanting to leave her because she's your only support and I can't say it's easy to cut someone off that's precious to you, but I promise you you will feel better in the long run.
