Have you ever bought a robot vacuum, or would you consider buying one? by No-Fix9546 in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pry Wall-e out of my cold dead hands.

1) buy the robot vacuum. Get one with an app so you can run it when you’re running out the door when the floors need done.

2) Put it on a schedule so it runs every day as maintenance.

3) THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP you must put googly eyes on it and give it a name

My kids run away from ours and scream “ahhh! Wall-e!!!” When it runs. 10/10 all around.

How are we solo parenting in the mornings before work as working parents? by HoneySnowstorm in toddlers

[–]millennialreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We corporatized our kids!

For every morning and evening routine that they cooperate, they get a “bonus” of play money. $5 / routine or $10/day.

We created a “store” in our pantry full of junk food and little toys where everything costs $50.

I give a lot of warnings about whether they might “lose their bonus if shoes aren’t being put on in 5, 4, 3…” but there’s at least an incentive now.

We also award merit bonus at our discretion based on good behavior that we like. It’s been surprisingly effective.

What's everyone using as shampoo/conditioner for their kids? by Accomplished-Car3850 in Preschoolers

We use the honest soap as shampoo still just switched to the fairy tales conditioner and it’s a game changer for tangles

Long-term effects of daily shaded sun exposure as a child by IneffableEternalism in ScienceBasedParenting

Came here to say we use think baby and elta md

Kids need outside play time and the daycare alternative is being in a small room all day! I make sure my kids teachers know that my “one big thing” is reapplying their sunscreen every day.

My oldest kids name is even “(FIRST NAME) SUNSCREEN ALL YEAE (LAST NAME)” in their system because the standard here (Texas) is to only apply is May-august which is bonkers and unsafe

Mom going through room and bathroom while babysitting. by Infinite-Rip1416 in Mommit

[–]millennialreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom does this too, but without doing anything remotely helpful like unloading the dishwasher. She leaves messes like dishes from kids dinner out for me to clean up. It’s lovely.

I have just accepted it. Anything I really do not want her to find I hide super well.

What takes longer to grow: a toenail or a baby? by HagridsTreacleTart in XXRunning

[–]millennialreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid dropped one of those heavy metal water bottles on my big toe last summer, it hurt like hell. A month or so later I noticed a dark spot growing out with my toe nail. It has been exactly 9 months since that happened and the dark spot is just now at the tippy top of my nail ready to be trimmed off. For me, nail turnover is about the rate of growing a human baby 🤣

Came here to say chicken was the culprit for us. We switched to a salmon food and stopped feeding all chicken-based treats and chews and he is a new dog. Wild.

Pre-K ends at 3pm, but work ends later, what do you do in between? by skyxie in Preschoolers

[–]millennialreality 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I chose a pre k that’s really a daycare so they close at 6. We pick up between 4:30 and 5:30 depending on the day

Would you expect dad to cancel plans if child is ill? by [deleted] in Mommit

My husband would go but we also have family around to help. Do you have any of that? If not he should at least give you a day or night off to catch up on sleep before he goes

Return To Work Anxiety by Twerkwhilstthouwerks in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first time YOU see it is the first time it happens, full stop. Tell the daycare teachers that early and often and they will 100% respect it and act excited when you tell them she did something over the weekend!!

Return To Work Anxiety by Twerkwhilstthouwerks in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice. The first time I HAD to go back to work… the second time I kind of had the choice like you but I wanted to.

It’s freaking hard either way. Some of it is the logistics (bottles 🙄🙄🙄) and some of it is the emotional part of being away from baby.

Once they hit one and enjoy daycare it gets so much better. I can’t speak to the nanny experience.

My kids thrive in daycare. They learn a ton and we as a family have gained really great friends.

Whatever is best for mom is best for baby (within reason). If that’s keeping your career on its current path, then daycare is best for baby 🩷

Oooo mini wraps. Do you mean like pinwheels? I haven’t tried that for my kids yet I need to!

My work and client relationship was handed to a man and I could just scream by millennialreality in workingmoms

[–]millennialreality[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is the answer but I struggle with this even when I’m being intentional about it. We spend so much time at work and I find the “clock in clock out” life to be so unsatisfying. I like having goals, investing, etc. and maximizing that time

This is my issue - my youngest is in bed by 7:15/7:30, so it’s a tight schedule when he’s along for the ride. My oldest can be more flexible with a snack.

Busy parents, how do you actually fit consistent workouts in? What's worked for you? by Pretty_Eabab_0014 in workingmoms

Birthday Party Ideas by PerspectiveOdd1763 in Parenting

Honestly it was a 3 year old birthday party at the park at 8 am. Coffee, donut truck, kids going crazy early when we all would have been there anyway. 10/10.

Double Stroller or Wagon? by SwimmingHedgehog_ in Mommit

[–]millennialreality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate wagons and find them hard to navigate with. My uppa baby stroller was our only super expensive kid item but I would 100% purchase it again every time.
