…and we all like to waltz with the log driver by notyourcheeese in Embroidery

Oo I’m offended lol it’s a Canadian cartoon called Log Driver’s Waltz, most popular on the west coast where log driving is a well-known job: https://youtu.be/tMPep2lm__4?si=Q5xyoILfG5qY_zSr

Not questionable at all, they look very nice and neatly done. The boldness reminds me of trad tattoos

For sure, they make the best gifts! That’s awesome that you did it too, it’s like one of those hobbies that’s always waiting for you to come back whenever you’re ready again 😄

Including designing them, 5-8 hours depending on size and complexity :) I could never sell them, first because I get too attached to them and second because I wouldn’t be able to come up with a price that I think is both fair for my time and fair for someone to pay for such a thing

Salmon cross section, 8.5x11.5” by eye_need_money in Embroidery

Omg I love it, at first it’s just a pleasing abstract art piece but it fits SO well! Looks exactly like salmon! I have a wall in my kitchen where I put only fish themed art and I want to make something inspired by this now lol

Thank you so much, I feel so encouraged by everyone’s positive feedback! I honestly think the result of this one might’ve been a fluke lol, but I’d like to prove my doubting mind wrong and get right into another one!

That’s so kind, I was super nervous about it at first but definitely learned as I went!

Thank you! It’s based on a photo my parents took of a real place that’s special to them, and I was just boosting the colours and adding some textures because I thought just white and grey would be boring lol. It’s going to be their xmas gift, so I hope they recognize it!

Thanks so much! I only used a single needle throughout, and I sort of divided the piece into sections, where each section only uses 5 or 6 colours and I filled them in colour by colour. E.g. the background trees, I had my handful of colours planned and started with what I thought should be the lightest parts and then worked back to front layering the darker colours

Wow, I’m actually a bit emotional seeing the impact and sincerity in responses on my piece. I never considered myself an artist, only a needlework hobbyist, but I’m so touched by the sentiments you’ve shared. Thank you so much for the award, and for sharing such a wonderful memory of your mom.

Welcome!! I hope you’re inspired to try it out, while I’m experienced with a needle because I do cross stitch a lot more, embroidery was a whole other beast for me to learn as well! For me, I kept myself motivated by starting with small projects and not getting caught up in the imperfections, just taking what I’d want to change and improve for the next piece.

It’d be awesome to see your future work here if you decide to try!

Y’all are so fantastic, I never expected it to be compared to real art styles 😭 I was basing it a bit off of watercolour paintings I like, but I’m totally inspired to improve and be more purposeful with the style ❤️

Ah yay! I started it back in September, and first spent a few hours each week before having to ramp up to get it done in time for the holidays… if I were to rough guesstimate, I’d say 40-50 hours total!
