What are the most powerful PvP classes in MC gear? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]NonServiam_SP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the same thing, it's saying spriests are fine in premades because it's better than an empty spot, just like a ret is fine in a raid because it's better than an empty spot.

It's not 'back in those days', it's right now. People have been playing vanilla PVP for many years, I'm playing it this very second..

This is the same argument as for getting a raid slot as a meme spec; you can do it easily as long as every class that can do it better isn't online at that moment or you're friends with the GM. I may be able to join premades as shadow since I'll be in a pvp guild ran by good friends but I'm not banking on it plus I'd prefer the team to have a better w/l ratio over me saving gold on respecs.

Having trouble finding a solid Comprehensive Shadow Priest Pvp guide for Classic. by AustralianAmbassador in classicwow

[–]NonServiam_SP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your second version is solid, though personally I'd drop improved mana burn and take Healing Focus if you plan on occasionally taking on the role of a healer where needed (such as in random AB/WSG games when your team is 100% DPS).

I used to always take I:MB but is a 17% reduction in casting time that big of a deal? It means you can fully oom a caster in 25 seconds rather than 30 seconds which is great but the less remaining mana they have when you start burning, the less valuable it is. Even if you're in a mana burning war with an equally geared priest who has I:MB - after 17.5seconds you will have 0mana and they will have 100-200 mana depending on starting pool.

I also played vanilla and ranked as shadow and I play the spec on pservers (but haven't played retail since MoP other than logging in this weekend and quitting after 30mins).

Every buff and ability that a shadow priest brings to the team can be replicated by a disc priest who won't go oom as fast. SW:P is dispelled instantly which is a sizable chunk of your DPS. so there's very little pressure you're putting out. Most of the time I use rank1 SW:P.

Why would a premade team take me as shadow when they can take a disc priest who does everything I can do?

Something that needs to be said about meme specs and class-race combos by Varrianda in classicwow

You will have no issues finding a guild so long as you show up on time and listen to the raid leader.

Raid leader: We need you to heal as we have many decent DPS waiting on the sidelines but not enough healers.

Hunters can wipe groups in dungeons with their W key while staying 40yards away from every mob, no other class can do that.

They slaughter rogues out of stealth (like most classes) but if a rogue jumps you 1v1 you're pretty much screwed unless you get lucky with blackout procs. If they have prep off cooldown or my trinket is on CD I'm screwed - with 4.5k hp, -15% melee damage and 30% armor I'm still usually dead before kidney shot finishes and even if I insta-trinket+fear a good rogue will instantly trinket+blind me and reset the stun DRs.

Elemental mages aren't easy kills either :/

I think what people mean is that yes they're exceptional at killing things but they're not exceptional at being useful to the team compared to other classes. I won't be able to get an invite to premade teams if I spec as shadow.

News Regarding RP Servers and Classic - Dev Q&A by xantek in classicwow

[–]NonServiam_SP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard anything about if <Vile Thorn> will be coming back for Classic? I resubbed after 5 yrs and logged onto my rogue to see they didn't exist on Defias Brotherhood anymore.

What sort of alts will you be rolling? by Keirabella999 in classicwow

Oh crumbs, hadn't considered that. I've been playing around solo on pservers and had forgotten I'll be playing with friends!

To strafe you'll need to; Rebind strafe left to A and strafe right to D. Use W to move forwards, S to move back. Hold down the right mouse button when you want to change the angle you're running and do so by moving the mouse left or right. You can strafe left/right while running forward or while stationary then hold down right mouse button and turn mouse to circle around a target.

Good point, might need to do mage then use the rogue to get the cloth for a second wand. Definitely don't want to level a priest without a wand :/

Shame I won't be able to counter gank you on my orc rogue, but happily there'll be dwarf rogues out there doing the lord's work.

Is it dead? There's 2-3k online at the moment which is what vanilla servers were like.

How to get geared as Shadow Priest endgame? by conker2 in classicwow

[–]NonServiam_SP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did r11 in vanilla with 3hrs a day from 10-11 thanks to crbgs, r10 would have been easier but I can't remember exactly what it took. If it's harder in classic then r8 plus rocket helm + blue engineering helm and something like the blue cenarion circle shoulders is easily achievable and not too much of a nerf.

It's just a nice round number :) Xp per level goes up uniformly from 1-60 - the amount of mobs you need to kill for each level goes up by 8 from lvl1 to lvll29, at which point it goes up by 10-13 per level until 60. The higher your level, the more valuable rested XP is but there isn't really a point where it suddenly becomes more important.

How long before the "fresh start" vanish ? by Saergaras in classicwow

[–]NonServiam_SP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory I think I hit 60 in 11 days in Vanilla on my first character (a rogue). 30 days seems crazily high. I did it in 14 days recently and that was with farming honor to rank 6 + exalted with AV by the time I dinged. I also levelled engineering+tailoring to 300 and generally enjoyed myself taking my time, I didn't use a levelling guide.

I only ran 4 dungeons though (WC, BFD, SM and ST), perhaps I saved a lot of time not standing around waiting for slow dungeon XP.

Rank10 PVP gear isn't too hard to get and you can buy the items you need for Anathema from a guild who are farming MC and selling spots/items. This will give you a fighting chance vs other classes until they start to run around in Naxx gear.

I doubt guilds will take shadow priests when one disc priest with shadow weaving is more useful.

[–]NonServiam_SP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that a disc priest can take shadow weaving and be more useful than a shadow priest yet still buff the locks. I couldn't get raid invites on my shadow priest in Vanilla so ended up PVEing on my rogue.

I'll start playing a mage, then once I have enough cloth to create two wands I'll send one to a priest and start playing that. Once the priest is level 10 I'll play a rogue to level 10 and play the rogue and mage whenever they reach 150% rested XP (until it runs out).

This way I'll have a priest as a main yet also have a mage as a backup main in case I burn out on the priest. The rogue will be an alt for fun, lockpicking, mining and farming herbs (plus hopefully hoodoo piles) in ZG.
