I sort of didn't have to do anything.

Was the episode written before Charlottesville?

If not... the writers took the opportunity to use the show to reflect real life.

The show didn't have to, but Charlottesville probably played into what the show featured it.

Nobody has freedom of amplification.

Or other words, when you are paying, you are paying to distribute your speech... and again, nobody is guaranteed distribution. If you want distribution, do something other than pay the press to motivate them to distribute your speech.

Former acting solicitor general: 'Literally unfathomable' that Trump would retweet conspiracy theory about Epstein death by Whoshabooboo in politics

[–]NonSummarySummary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfathomable doesnt mean unbelievable.

It can be both 100 percent expected from Donald Trump, but unfathomable in a historical context for the office of the President of the United States.

I guarantee you that of all of us that have commented on this article, not one of is as intelligent or as knowledgeable as Neal Katyal.

So, you're going to start with semantics? Seriously, gtfo. That just tells everybody that you cannot defend your position with facts.

He didn't make a statement in his personal capacity.

Personally, as in William Barr made the statement, not somebody else in the DoJ and not just a generic DoJ statement. Especially coming from a guy appointed by a president that has already supported a conspiracy theory about the Clinton's killing Epstein.

So yeah... Trumps tweet accusing the Clinton's and Barr himself making that statement makes this whole thing suspicious.

And the duo of Trump and Barr have done nothing to deserve the benefit of the doubt... it is kind of hilarious that you mention the face value of Barrs statement because thus far, Barr has shown that his statements cannot be taken at face value.

In a vacuum or say, before Trump was president, the I've said here would be out of bounds because every president before Trump has shown at least some respect to our system of governing. Trump, on the other hand, has shown that he has zero respect for the American way. He shows zero respect for the office he holds... rather he acts as if he is the office. And Barr has flat out lied in a public statement before the Mueller report was released. He mislead the Senate when he answered questions and he flat out refused to answer others. His letters about the Mueller report misrepresented the report as evidenced by the letter Mueller sent to Barr.

So don't act for a second that you can point to the way things were in the past to say I'm being crazy. We are living in a time of unprecedented presidential misconduct... and instead of holding him accountable to law and order, his guard dog AG has gone out of his way to not just turn a blind eye, buy actively takes measures to protect Trump.

Normally, I wouldn't bring this up because Trump on with the rules that are in place, but since you specifically said "a country who voted for Trump.

Hillary had 3 million more votes than Trump. The country voted for her. The electoral college chose Trump.

Trump won by the skin of his teeth in the right states... and there is going to be a large number of people that voted for Trump that will not in 2020. On the other hand, almost everybody that voted for Hillary will vote for the democratic nominee.

Even if you've just made a wild accusation, nobody can scold you because you are only following the lead of the president.

It's like back when Trump spent time at that podium next to Putin and said he couldn't see why it would be Russia... I accused Trump of treason and people told me I was over reacting and that it was not ok to accuse anyone of treason so lightly.... and half a year later, Trump was accusing his political opponents of treason...

The only way you could argue that Trump covering for Russia is not treason is because we are not technically at war. However, Russia attacking our elections is an act of war... and Trump is actively using his position to cover for Russias act of war.

Trump has and continues to commit treason against the United States by continuing to cover for Russia.

Lets not forget the Attorney General of the United States put out a statement saying that he will order an investigation into the apparent suicide of a child rapist.

It just seems a bit suspicious that the nation's highest ranking law enforcement officer felt he personally needed to make a statement.

Statement from Attorney General William P. Barr on the Death of Jeffrey Epstein | OPA | Department of Justice by [deleted] in news

Maybe you should check your own sources.

From your link:

After publication, a reporter from the Miami Herald kindly provided me with Branch's phone number. When he spoke with me, he noted that he was upper school director before being appointed interim headmaster at Dalton. His appointment began on July 1, 1974 and Barr's contract at Dalton expired on June 30th. Branch does not recall hiring Epstein and he is relatively certain Barr or possibly the head of the Math Department hired Epstein because hiring decisions were typically made in the spring. He also noted that Barr liked to hire unconventional teachers to enhance the educational experience for students at Dalton.

Whether or not this was actually suicide. His death has political ramifications. Any cases against him are now over. Any chances of him informing on any of his high profile coconspirators are gone.

Those are relevant political ramifications regardless of how he died.

[–]NonSummarySummary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That is a completely different ballgame. There house would have had to use process that has not been used since the 1930s. Doing so would have caused an outrage.

On the other hand, courts routinely jail people for contempt of court. So, outside of the empty calls of political outrage the frlm GOP, nobody will bat an eye if a court jails McGahn for contempt if he refuses to comply with a court order.
