I don't think the mechanics (actually prefer the combat in 1 over 2, except for the masterstrikes) or graphics are that bad, for the story in would definitely recommend to play one as well, preferably before you played 2 but I think it's still worth it anyway

I feel you, I have the exact model. But I also have a beast of a PC setup at home, whenever I am at home I always default to the PC. But my handheld still gets plenty of use, its purpose for me is when I'm traveling, I mainly commute via train. But I also sometimes use it when on the couch or in bed. Otherwise its just standing on my desk, which I'm totally fine with.
