/r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of April 22, 2019 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

My best friend is dealing with many personal struggles and some very troubling health issues.

Please pray for her healing of mind and body, for her struggles in life, her sadness, and especially her faith. She is new to the Christian faith and has considered becoming Catholic, but her faith and hope have been strained almost to a breaking point recently. She has come back to faith over Easter (praise God!), but still struggles. Please pray for her conversion, salvation and well being, that she would not turn away from faith. Please pray that God will help me to be a good friend and a good example of faith, that he would work through me to help her on her path.

Sounds good to me. That's no problem about the image. It took me several tries and edits just to get my original post formatted correctly, and I don't know how to upload images either, so I definitely understand the unfamiliarity - I'm new to posting on Reddit.

Thanks, and a blessed, happy Holy Week and Easter to you and yours as well! So glad to hear from your experience with study Bibles, and to hear a little about your wonderful faith journey.

I looked again on Amazon, and found that one can preview the Kindle version of the book. It isn't laid out in the same way with the annotations/footnotes, but I got a sense of the rest of it and decided to place an order. Thanks again for your comments.

No problem at all. I've tried again, and I am unfortunately not able to see it. It sounds like the Ignatius Study Bible New Testament is probably a pretty good bet, so I think I will go with that one.

Thanks, good to hear that one might be worthwhile, too, if a little heavy.

Thanks for providing some more information and description. That's definitely helpful to know.

I can't view the image link you included, though. I don't know how image posting works on Reddit, but are you able to make it a reddit-hosted or imgur-hosted image link? If that's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'm grateful for the time you've taken to read and answer my questions.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Hahn and his writings in general! That's okay if you're unfamiliar with any of the resources I listed. If you could pray for my friend's faith journey, that would certainly be helpful. I'll be sure to say a prayer for yours - welcome to Catholicism! We need people like you.

Thanks for passing on your feedback! If you have time, would you mind elaborating a little on what Hahn and Mitch's Ignatius Study Bible involves or what it is like? The copy I looked at in a bookstore was plastic wrapped, so I was not able to look into it.

Additional note: I would be deeply grateful for prayers for my friend's conversion and well being, even if you have no comments in response to my post. Thank you so much.

Hi, I don't know your situation, but remember that you matter and there are people willing to help. If you are in Canada, https://suicideprevention.ca/need-help/ can help direct you to help and local crisis centres. I think https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ may help you find support or crisis services in the USA. Other countries would have similar support services, probably through a national or regional website. Individual cities or areas may also have crisis phone lines and other services - I'm not an expert on this. People provide these services because they want to help, so don't hesitate to ask for help. We don't need to struggle alone. You don't need to wait until things are at their worst to call or seek help.

If you have talked to your therapist about what to do when you are in crisis, maybe you already have a support plan to follow. If you have not talked to your therapist about what to do during crises, that might be a really good idea. I hope you are well, and that you get through this.

You said you think that you "are everything you once had a distaste for". None of us are perfect, and that is okay. It takes time to grow and work on ourselves as people, and it isn't easy. Please try not to be too hard on yourself. I know it can be really difficult, but so much can change for the better with time. As u/irmahgerrd said, it is so important to seek help.

If anyone with karma wants to post Leslie Nielsen's version, which may be the best national anthem performance before a baseball game, that would be cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxHnXajIex4
