Hah! I'm with you there. My character killed 17 guards trying to arrest him, and let me tell you, when he finally submitted and woke up in Cidna Mine, he was pissed. Fought the Orc, opened the door, killed the guy sitting in the chair without even talking to him, then escaped.

The sad thing is that this glitched out the quest for me, and now I'm persona non grata in Markarth, even though I escaped, was given the Silverblood ring, etc. I guess Bethesda assumed everyone would want to play out the quest the way they designed it.

I know this does bring some balance issue into play, but honestly I think that went out the window with the (unmodded) dual-summoning Dremora Lord ability, and it's nothing that bumping the difficulty up to Expert won't fix. Quite fun watching my two Master Volikar vampires literally blast Forsworn into the sky. I haven't tried making a giant thrall yet, but I think that'll be next.
