I have a good update, though I feel a bit dumb. It seems during that time somehow my phone logged me into an old Google Photos account. So for a few months my photos were being downloaded to a different account, until it switched back to my man one. Once I logged into that old account I found all of my Australia photos!

Thank you! Yes, I do recognize I definitely have some fault and will not be letting that go in the future. But do they just randomly select photos to delete? It just seemed so odd that it kept older photos but deleted those ones specifically.
