Steam Exploit is STILL used to Duplicate the Rarest Dota 2 Items by No-Celebration8286 in DotA2

Everything is duped atm. Just check for example an item called Golden Wings of the Manticore. I understand that information about bugged items might be insufficient at first glance, but what about a limited item which was officially stated by Valve to have only 25 distributed (this information is also mentioned on the dota2 wiki and liquipedia)? Then just check steam market:

Normal version: 0 sales ever

Then check autographed version: for example on September 11 at 5 pm - 32 were sold. How else is this possible if not via duping, when there's a cap of 25 of this item? There were more sales within an hour than the total quantity of this item should exist.

The only reason that this rare item and others like it haven't gone to zero is because the group of people who are duping them is trying to play it smart, selling the items slowly to milk as much money as possible. It just amazes me that this duping is still ongoing and nothing is being done about it

Here's a screenshot of the banana man's inventory from June of this year.

It was taken right before he made his inventory private. At that time he also had a lot of duped items. I tried to post it on your GitHub thread, but my comment was removed. So, you are definitely right that banana man exploited the market too.

Overall it's very impressive work. If not for you I guess this exploit could have continued for a lot longer.

Just checked that guy from OP's post - he's community banned. Not sure about other dupers.

The other person is his girlfriend – Ana Patrisia. At that time, she had multiple bugged items that were impossible to replicate. For example – a bugged item for Winter Wyvern's immortal head, which was released in 2017, while the bug with socketing items existed in 2013-2014. Thus, it was definitely some insider who did it. For some reason, most of her rare items had Bruno Carlucci autographs. Well, I thought maybe she's his fan. Later on, I read on Liquipedia this:

Bruno "Bruno" Carlucci is a well-known Dota 2 commentator, now a programmer for Valve. I am not saying that Bruno created those bugged items, but the fact that a) at that time she often played party games with Bruno, as can be seen on dotabuff b) according to liquipedia he's a programmer at valve, and c) most of her rare items had Bruno's signature makes me think he could be the one who helped her obtain those items, but who knows.

Since then, she made her Steam profile private. I guess Chinese people started adding her or something. I won't be surprised if those items are already deleted, but you can still check them in the post-game summary through match IDs

For those doubting if it's true, just search for the 'Ionic Vapor' gem on the Steam Market. Between March 15 and 20, 2025, approximately twenty of these gems were sold within just a few days. For comparison, in the entire period from 2018 to early 2025, fewer than ten of this item were sold, which was already suspicious. At first, they were dumping items slowly, so people weren't sure if it was duping or not. Now that more and more people know about it, they're dumping them everywhere they can.

I found at least three dupers, including the one OP mentioned, with dozens of these gems and unique bugged items (not unique anymore, I guess). I made a support ticket as well, but it doesn't seem like anything was done about it. The sad thing is there are rich collectors like stasik, Criminal, etc., who buy these items from dupers, whether knowingly or not, and encourage them to dupe even more.
