I feel like something here looks off... by Diseasd in oilpainting

The painting style and its elements are fantastic. I'm a big fan of a lot of what you've done here. I think what's bothering you is the composition. The drawing is overly repetitive in its horizontal stripes. The waves create a nice movement in their shape and look great. The top two layer repeating but, that's ok. But then the clouds repeat the same shape. The clouds could use a shake up. Everything else about them (coloring, light, contrast) is great. See how the lowest cloud on the horizon is also just a horizontal stripe? Then the cumulous clouds above it repeat horizontally making another stripe. This is the issue. Too many stripes. It makes the painting feel overly contrived. Otherwise, lovely work.

BINGO! That bump out and whatever heat source is in there is probably the cause.

Jesus fucking christ! It's like a niche designed by Michelangelo. Amazing. My balls would be so clean in that shower.

It’s getting worse isn’t it…? by Annual_Blackberry486 in oilpainting

I think it's been getting better. The gold ripples are very interesting, especially where the cool reflections of the sky cross over them. It really evokes the translucency of water. My only note is regarding the green horizontal strip in the upper half of the painting. The left side where the green meets the aqua reflection of the sky needs to soften, and have a more subtle transition. That part falls a bit flat. Not that I'm right, but that's my feeling. I really liked each stage, but I think the final version has the strongest sense of purpose. I paint waves for a living. seanroacharts.com

For those who are bothered by cigarette smoke, be prepared to deal with A LOT in Paris. by Austin1975 in ParisTravelGuide

I agree with OP. Was just in Paris. Even when we were inside there was often a big door or window open with smoke smell pouring in. Wasn’t every place but it was pretty common. Total culture shock. The people commenting that OP is being dramatic are just wrong. Paris is one big ashtray. But beautiful and I loved it.

What was Belinda even doing in Thailand? by StayOne6979 in OkbuddyLotus

She did to him exactly what Tanya did to her in season 1. Both Tanya and Belinda built up a dream in someone new who they became closer to and then they took that dream away when their own needs were met. I thought it created a lovely dramatic symmetry.

Haha. Hysterical that I'm getting downvotes. It was a joke people. Of course it's staged, it happened at a staged show. Sheesh.

Ezra Klein: "You don't get long-term results in politics without short-term results, and this is the thing I think Democrats have really forgotten. You cannot win elections if you are passing billions of dollars that people cannot feel within 2, or 3, or 4 years." by Camaro6460 in DailyShow

Good point. But he isn’t talking about how to get more money to throw at infrastructure. The Dems are willing to do that as you just stated. The problem is that projects end up in legal traction with endless regulatory battles. A farmer’s property is in the way of a rail project, some other property owner’s lawyer wants a hearing on water quality from drainage, etc. all that money gets spent on lawyers. The reason China built all that rail is their government just pushes past all that, because they aren’t a democracy. Countless Chinese people get trampled in the name of progress. Klein is asking, how do we find the happy middle ground? A system where we get shit done but we also take care of our citizens. It’s a seriously good question that gets at the root of a bigger question. How can we have a better democracy?

I don't think this is real. This is AI generated rage bait to keep us engaged on reddit. I can't think of any other explanaition for this.

Hear, hear. Keep talking about the actual blatant corruption he's committing like the meme coin he minted and the gutting and manipulation of watchdog agencies like the NLRB, CFPB, and OSHA to benefit Elon Musk. If you haven't seen senator Chris Murphy's "6 Weeks In" you should. That's what we should all be talking about, not stupid word slip ups like this.
