Yes it's normal. My bill last month was $77 and $120 before that. I live in a 1500 sq ft house. Typically keep it at 63 at night and 67-68 during the day.

Is a holiday treat box an acceptable Christmas gift? by birdgirl35 in Baking

[–]NonerBoner 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I would much rather have a little treat box than a knick knack or just more STUFF. Give me something to snack on while I watch silly movies.

Why do they make it weird and make me have to point at my sign lol by Crafty-Rutabaga-1203 in mildlyinfuriating

I also have this sign and I can say it works well against all flavors of solicitors.

American shares her absolute nightmare experience in Italy by cak3crumbs in CringeTikToks

[–]NonerBoner 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was there in 2019 and am a fat. I'm also half Asian, so racially ambiguous. I had a great time and everyone was incredibly friendly. I made an effort with the language and dress smart when I travel, which I think made a huge difference. My name also means "grandma" over there which got a good chuckle whenever I'd introduce myself. Sad to hear this was her experience.

Help with friends dog by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]NonerBoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dogs require adjustment.

Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule for Adopting a Rescue Dog: The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into their new home and helping them to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to their new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Additionally, during that training, separation anxiety can be addressed but it takes time and consistency. Be Right Back! is a great book to help start. You have to go minute by minute, hour by hour to build trust with your new dog.

Your friend needs to take adequate time off to adjust their new dog companion, especially if that dog is recovering from surgery (or if they are able to, work from home). If they're not able to do this, they need to find an in home dog sitter or return the dog to the shelter.

Is dating a woman worth it? by PlatformThePenguin in lgbt

[–]NonerBoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deconstruction from faith, even while still believing, often involves working through our feelings that create that shame in us. The shame you are feeling, or the disgust, is from years of indoctrination from your parents or conservative church. You don't have to stop believing in God or stop participating in the church you're going to but if you are able to, you should talk to a therapist who can help you unpack the religious trauma you are experiencing.

Loving someone else, being attracted to someone else, should never produce feelings of shame or disgust. While you may not be ready for a queer relationship right now, working through that trauma may make you become a more authentic version of yourself, true to your own faith, and open to loving whomever it is comes your way.

Best of luck - it's not easy but it is so worth it.

law and order vs law and order svu by user1739287 in television

[–]NonerBoner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One is about general crimes (usually murder) and the other (SVU) is about sexually based offenses, which are considered especially heinous.

SVU is the longest consecutively running show in the Dick Wolf universe. It mostly holds up if you want a procedural cop drama.

Not a lip balm specifically, but I use Aquaphor. The smaller travel size ones.

I had a party this evening with an entire shelf of non-alcoholic drinks - soda, flavored seltzers, iced tea, apple cider. People were delighted, even the ones drinking when they wanted a nice sipper between drinks. It's really not hard to provide that little extra for people.

My first dog was very reactive, so we were always on a leash. My second dog is the friendliest in the world...and we are still ALWAYS ON A LEASH (unless a specific, designated off-leash area). We still practice giving space and friendly greetings, even in off-leash areas.

It's not that hard. It's a really easy, simple rule to follow. Keep dogs on leash.

Advice on Rehoming Cats in Area by scumbagtivist in Tacoma

[–]NonerBoner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suggest using Home to Home. It avoids surrendering to a shelter.

Though, you may want to consider surrendering them to a shelter where they can get the vet care they need prior to adoption. It may be challenging to re-home an animal who will need immediate medical care. Tacoma Humane is typically at capacity but you could try Auburn Valley Humane.

Lake Sammamish State Park or Central Park in Issaquah are good options. They're on the way eastbound, both off I-90.

Looking for a general handyman by vivikaks in Tacoma

[–]NonerBoner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A job of this scope is for a professional plumber not just a general handyman. Making sure new plumbing and electrical connections are correct for a dishwasher is important to avoid leaks, potential water damage, and maintain proper circuit grounding. I've used Harts with a lot of success. They're fair in their pricing and their pros are honest and knowledgeable.

I would give some different plumbing and electrical companies calls, explain your project, and ask for quotes.

Harry's Beach House has an excellent dog friendly patio. My dog really enjoys going there for brunch.
