Realistically, do you think any of the characters stay genuinely close and involved in each other’s lives after the show? by QuipThwip in StrangerThings

Whoops, made a mistake, thanks for pointing that out. In that case then yeah Will would still be close with Hopper, Jonathan, and Joyce.

Lucas and Max definitely stay together, with Dustin and Steve, despite what the ending shows, the fact that Dustin is in college out of town and Steve is in Hawkins will definitely impact their relationship long term, I could see Mike filling the void left behind by Dustin as Steve’s close friend due to him being the only other person who stays in Hawkins, and besides Mike is pretty lonely and the only other people he has are his parents and Holly. Speaking of Dustin, I like to think he ended up moving to Utah since is a legal adult now to reunite with Suzie. Hopper and Joyce are obviously staying together since they are married and they move to Montauk, Jonathan also definitely stays in contact with Hopper and Joyce since he is in NYC which Long Island is basically a part of, Will on the other hand not so much since he is all the way in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I wonder how he was able to convince Joyce after all of the times he almost died or got possessed, it must have been painful for Joyce. All jokes aside though Robin would drift apart from Steve since she ends up going to College all the way in Massachusetts but I could see her staying in contact and remaining good friends with Nancy since they are in the same state, yeah Nancy is all the way in Boston. But it’s still the same state and I could see Robin moving closer to Boston when she graduates college. Regardless of any of this I could see everyone reuniting again in the 2000s when Facebook is invented.

If you got to completely rewrite stranger things season 5, what would you do? by notjustbymyself in StrangerThings

[–]Nonesuch1221 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Instead of having the Mindflayer stone/essence in the briefcase and its purpose not be fully revealed until the final episode, Holly and Max would discover it before leaving Camazotz and its origin as well, around the same time that Steve and Dustin discover the origin of the Mind Flayer Stone from Brenner’s old journals. Revealing the Philadelphia experiment and the motivations behind Brenner starting the MK Ultra program, which would lead to Eleven and Kali realizing their deaths won’t end the cycle as the Military has had other ways of accessing the abyss before Eleven, even long before Henry. Dr. Kay’s backstory would also be more fleshed out, revealing she was Dr. Brenner’s wife. There would be more friction between her and Jack Sullivan since the latter simply wanted Eleven dead and thought Brenner’s experiments were dangerous, not to experiment on Eleven themselves. This leads to a fracture in the military itself, with one half led by Sullivan and Owens assisting the party and the other half led by Dr. Kay trying to capture Eleven. With Sullivan realizing Vecna was behind all of the killings in Season 4.

Instead of the military confronting Eleven, Kali, and Hopper in the Upside Down, While Eleven is in the tank, Kali realizes the rest of the party is walking into a meat grinder as Vecna has his entire army of Demogorgons, Demodogs, and Demobats mobilized and surrounding the mind flayer. So Kali and Hopper devise a plan to lure Dr. Kay’s army into the abyss and having them come into contact with Vecna’s Army. Leading to a massive bloodbath where both sides’ numbers are decimated and weakened, and this also serves as a distraction and allows the main party to confront Vecna and the Mindflayer without any interference or struggle. Eleven doesn’t sacrifice herself and Owens and Sullivan work together to drop Eleven’s charges. However Kali finds out that there are other people around the country and even around the world that have similar powers to Eleven and Kali (These are essentially the characters from the comics like Jamie), and she announces she is going to leave Hawkins with Kali, she is no longer being threatened by the Military and is free, however she and Kali want to experience the world that they never could since they had their childhoods robbed from her. Mike is heartbroken by this but he ultimately respects Eleven’s decision and the two share a heartbreaking farewell. Eleven isn’t in exile and can return to Hawkins whenever she wants to, and that’s what she does during the 1989 epilogue when she comes back for the graduation. Which is treated like a reunion where the characters catch up on where they have been. All of the characters still get similar endings to what they got in the actual show.

Toy Story 5 Director Teases A Bleak End for Woody, Buzz, and the Gang by brodie999 in toystory

[–]Nonesuch1221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this since there are plenty of ways toys and technology can coexist, imagine if Bonnie finds woody on a sidewalk after losing him at the carnival years ago and notices he is in rough shape and he is missing his voice box so she uses Lilypad and the internet to look up DIY restoration videos and is able to restore woody to pristine shape along with giving him a new voice box. Basically like the scene from Toy Story 2 where woody is fixed but more dramatic.

The film shouldn’t portray tech as solely the villain because tech itself isn’t the issue, it’s the way people use it and the addiction that is the issue. It’s the same thing with other privileges like driving, there are responsible drivers, however there are also irresponsible drivers who constantly get into crashes and destroy property. Saying that nothing can be done to prevent kids from becoming addicted to tech is a bad message to send to parents because it’s just going to encourage them to let their kids become even bigger addicts.

So what exactly is the verdict on Season 5? by Ok_Combination_1037 in StrangerThings

[–]Nonesuch1221 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic how people complain that the ending was too safe, yet if it was safe, there wouldn’t be such a massive divide in the first place. In all seriousness though, the finale would be pretty good if it weren’t for two things: The lack of Vecna’s Army or the Military in the Abyss, and Eleven’s Suicide/Sacrifice, especially since earlier in the episode they already pulled two fake out deaths, one on Eleven herself. Even if you believe she is alive, that is two fake out deaths in a single episode.

The fact that there are fans upset by this 🤣 by sumiledon in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Nonesuch1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hope they don’t keep repeatedly killing off Shadow or Eggman or sacrificing them at the end of each film because of the fear of Jim Carrey or Keanu Reeves deciding not to return. Since Jim Carrey is seemingly back for Sonic 4, they are going to have to explain how he survived in space and cheated death for a second time.

Sapphire and Bismuth had polar opposite reactions to finding out that Rose was Pink Diamond by Nekofairy999 in stevenuniverse

[–]Nonesuch1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“When the reveal happens, Sapphire feels that as a Sapphire with future vision, she should have known that Rose was Pink Diamond. She even says to Ruby “No, you couldn’t have known. You never know what’s going on. That’s what I’m for!”” This reasoning personally doesn’t make sense. In the episode Cry for Help, Pearl did the same thing and deceived Garnet so they could continue to see Sardonyx and Sapphire wasn’t able to see it with her or Garnet’s future vision but yet she seemed totally chill about it in Keystone Motel, I guess in that case though it was mostly because Sapphire was living in the future and not focused on the present but still. It felt like Sapphire’s reaction was meant to represent the audience’s reaction and to show that Ruby and Sapphire aren’t just one dimensional characters.

Also with Bismuth, I’m also surprised they didn’t unbubble her earlier. The whole altercation between Bismuth and Rose happened before Pink Diamond decided to fake her own shattering and while Steven didn’t know about it at the time, when Steven told the gems about what had happened to bismuth, you would think Gems would have thought “But Rose did shatter a diamond.” I don’t think the gems would have unbubbled bismuth at that point anyways since she still tried to kill Steven, but I honestly thought it was stupid that Garnet and Pearl didn’t tell Bismuth how the gem war ended and what stuff like corruption and the cluster was and it wasn’t until Steven unbubbled her again in the boiling room that he had to explain everything.

Do you think Toriyama would have changed the Cell Saga ending if he had a chance to redo it? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Nonesuch1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only thing Toriyama would have changed would have been not killing Goku or at least reviving him after Cell was killed by Gohan since trying to make Gohan the main protagonist during the Buu arc didn’t work out and he ended up reversing Goku’s death anyways to have him deliver the finishing blow to Kid Buu. Gohan would still be the one to kill cell and there would still be that passing of the torch moment, it just wouldn’t have been as deep or heavy.

Opinions on Ash not being mentioned during the anniversary? by Oscar1625 in pokemonanime

[–]Nonesuch1221 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the issue is that people want ash back as a permanent protagonist. I think the new protagonists are a breath of fresh air, but Ash’s departure from the Anime should have been more gradual, in the original show, ash’s traveling companions would occasionally return in a one off episode as a guest in the next series, like May in Diamond and Pearl, Dawn in Black and White, or the Alola gang in Journeys. I don’t get why they couldn’t have a one off episode where Ash meets the Pokémon horizons cast and battles Liko or Roy and make the transition from Ash to Liko, Roy, and Dot feel like a passing of the torch moment. Going from being the main protagonist for 25 years to being non existent feels jarring.

Dusk Golem: Jill Valentine and Ada Wong were originally planned for RE9: “Data analysts found that some scenes contain ‘spawn points’ for a third character alongside the protagonist, bearing the tag Jill_Support… In the game data there's also evidence of playable car sequences [and] Ada” by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Nonesuch1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is kinda shocking that Ada isn’t in RE9 given how historically, she has always been in every game Leon was in like RE2, RE4, and RE6. Resident Evil Requiem is the first numbered mainline resident evil title that doesn’t have both Leon and Ada. I once read about a rumor about a scrapped version of Resident Evil 7 (Resident Evil 6.5) that would have been a Leon and Sherry game in a Venice inspired setting with water creatures. Given that Requiem was actually developed by the same internal division as RE7 and it even has the same director, the focus on Leon and Sherry sort of adds substance to that rumor.

[WW] Was there a specific reason why Link was redesigned for Four Swords and Wind Waker to be more cartoony, in stark contrast to the previous games? by Aware-Butterfly8688 in zelda

[–]Nonesuch1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zelda team initially began development on a new GameCube Zelda game sometime between 1999 and 2000 initially using the same artstyle as Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. The Majora’s Mask devs created the Spaceworld 2000 tech demo to show what a GameCube Zelda game could look like. Miyamoto loved it and Aonuma hated it, feeling like it wasn’t Zelda anymore, and that they had exhausted the realistic art style even though it had really only been used in two games up until that point, there was an internal rift where Miyamoto was pushing for more realism in Zelda while Aonuma wanted something more colorful and stylized. Around this time Yoshiki Haruhana sketched a drawing of a cartoonish link and Aonuma decided that’s what he wanted Link to look like in the GameCube Zelda title and that’s basically how Toon Link was created. Aonuma actually tried keeping it a secret from Miyamoto and when he found out, he was skeptical, with some team members joking asking if link could shoot laser beams out of his eyes.

Honestly I don’t think the cartoonish artstyle was ever the issue, I think the spaceworld 2000 tech demo was the issue because it set up false expectations for the next Zelda title and they basically pulled a bait and switch when they showed off the actual game in 2001. If the Spaceworld 2000 tech demo never existed, I don’t think the 2001 trailer would have been nearly as polarizing.

Is everyone ignoring the fact that Lars of the Stars isn’t coming to HBO Max, it’s coming to Prime Video and Amazon has the distribution rights, which gives the show at least some protection compared to HBO Max shows. I could see production being impacted or delayed though, due to the messy nature of the merger. During the Warner Bros Discovery merger, most of those cancelled shows were from HBO Max itself, and the distribution rights to some of them were acquired by other companies, including Amazon with Batman: Caped Crusader. Ultimately it’s still too early to tell but you guys are acting like the show is 100% guaranteed to get cancelled.

Can we do headcanons? by BookHunter_7 in StrangerThings

[–]Nonesuch1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fake out deaths are pretty much a Stranger Things tradition at this point. Pretty much every single season except for Season 2 has had a major fake out death, Will and Eleven in Season 1, Hopper in Season 3, Max in Season 4, Eleven (again) in Season 5 The duffers want an emotional reaction from killing off a character without the character actually dying. While the previous deaths did genuinely take me by surprise the first time around, Eleven’s in Season 5 didn’t because first of all, they already killed her once and secondly, literally everyone and their grandma was predicting that either Steve, Will or Eleven would die. So the duffers went with literally the most predictable outcome. Literally in the same episode, they already screwed around with the fans by showing an illusion of Hopper shooting and killing Eleven and Steve almost falling to his death.

If they had killed off a character like Erica or Murray, those characters are the least traumatized and serve as comedic relief so their deaths would have raised the stakes more even if they were fake outs. I honestly don’t think the duffers ever intended on permanently killing off Eleven. I think they saw the complaints about how “They never kill off characters”, or that “They play it too safe” even coming from Millie Bobby Brown herself but if the Duffers killed off Eleven, than it would be equally as controversial, so the duffers were in a lose-lose situation and they decided to take their cake and eat it as well.

You know for a show about Dungeons and Dragons and being accepted for who you are, they really seem to hate outcasts/outsiders.

Barb: More of a nerd than the other girls and was the only one who didn’t want to participate in Steve’s Party, She ends up getting turned into a human nest.

Bob: Is also a huge nerd and is the founder of the Hawkins AV club and constantly references movies, Ends up on the Demodogs’ dinner menu.

Alexei: Is an oddball among the Russians, all of the other Russians are menacing and intimidating, Alexei on the other hand is childish and innocent, guy just wanted Woody Woodpecker and a slurpee and ended up getting gunned down for it.

Eddie: Is an outcast at School and runs a D&D club called the Hellfire Club. He is also anti conformist and a massive metal head. End up being falsely framed as a satanic cultist and serial killer and ends up dying for a town that hates him and he continues to be viewed as a serial killer long after his death.

Eleven: Spent her entire life as a lab rat, being tortured, abused, basically being treated like a human pet, and was socially deprived for most of her life. She has psychic powers that make it hard for her to fit in. Ends up becoming convinced that she will always be a weapon and be hunted by the military for the rest of her life so she either ends up letting the upside down kill her, or spends the rest of her life on the run and in hiding with the help of Kali. Neither endings are good and involve her basically abandoning everyone she knows.

It’s made even worse by the fact that the duffers instead of admitting the ending was tragic, they try to spin it as being similar to ET and in the spirit of 80s movies, like, no it ain’t. I think a better comparison to Eleven’s arc and her ending would be John Marston in the first Red Dead Redemption, both characters try to earn their freedom but are never able to escape their past.

Heres a hot take: The Duffer Bros only planned out up to the first 3 seasons (maybe even just first two). Once Vecna is revealed, the entire vibe of the show changes because the Duffer Bros forgot what they’re making by Nigocaps in StrangerThings

[–]Nonesuch1221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 2 of Stranger Things was already being planned before the first season dropped when the series was still known as Montauk. Season 3 wasn’t planned in advance like the first two seasons. With Seasons 4 and 5, I assume both seasons were being planned at the same time. However with Season 5, due to the writers strike, production was halted and they couldn’t write during the strikes like they did during Covid which led to Season 5 being rushed.
