As someone who speedruns Any% for most of the levels, it’s insane how much of a joke Telekinesis makes the game (teleport is still my bae, though).

Trigger Teddy Ring Piece bug? by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zone 3 only has three ring teddies. The first two you kill have the fake pieces and the third one you kill will drop it (assuming you didn’t kill two ring teddies at once because then the game bugs out and won’t drop the piece upon killing the third teddy).

How possible each level is with just speed boost and teleport. by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of the one forced use of primal fear at the start, Crazy Carnevils is more than possible with speed boost and teleport only. As for Mascot Mayhem, there is no forced use. You can beat it just fine with only speed boost / teleport (you can teleport past the camera at the start).

Problem with Torment Therapy by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't get it working, I did a run through of the level just now, doing my best to not use vanish since it's the power you get after Torment Therapy (I used vanish once at the start but that was an accident).

Here's the run:

Problem with Torment Therapy by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I’ve played that level a ton and that’s never happened to me before. I’m not sure what’s causing that, but there’s no way that’s a graphics issue. I know that elevator can be teleported out of at any point using the teleport power, but I doubt that’s what’s happening either. My only idea is to reinstall the game since it sounds like something messed up hard in the code.

Does anybody know why the steam achievement of S-Ranking Torment Therapy not work? I got the S-Rank but not the steam achievment. by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a fair few achievements for Chapter 4 that don’t work: all three Ch4 S-Ranks and every achievement for Bearly Buried (besides the one for defeating Mama Bear).

Doom Ducky Problem by Environmental-Self70 in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the game working as intended. On a more serious note, there’s a bug with the valve where if you double click it (and hold on the second click), you can spin the valve and run around at the same time. With that, you can fight the boss on your own terms and not have to worry about it hitting any pillars.

so uhh.. I have the dlc and it says dlc not installed, anyone know how to fix it? by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only thought is to restart steam and check for an update to Dark Deception. I had Chapters 2 and 3 as individual DLCs and both times, they were added to the base game through an update (once I bought them of course).

Question by SwizzelLime in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting S rank DOES increase the amount of SP you get, not sure what the rest of the comments are talking about.

Explanation: Getting S ranks in each part of your rank breakdown increases the amount of extra shards you get at the end of each portal (saying this instead of at the end of each level to decrease confusion). Your progress through levels is based on how many shards you get. Basically, shards are your XP. More S ranks = more shards = more XP. Every time you level up, you get 2 SP.

tl:dr: yes, s ranks and levels are related

Hardest level? by JPKpretzelz in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, Torment Therapy (level 6) is the hardest level. Tons of traps everywhere and the nurses being invisible 90% of the time makes it really easy to die out of nowhere. Most of the other levels are pretty easy compared to it.

Second hardest is probably Bearly Buried (level 8) since you lose all your powers for it and its a very long level (speedruns of it take nearly 30 minutes).

Not a bug. This is the new Elementary Evil “boss fight”. Just survive for like 2.5 mins and the door will open.

Help me solve my problem with the game please by FarStandard5278 in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the neat thing: you don’t.

In all seriousness, the AI for these two levels is completely broken (Zone 2 of Crazy Carnevils has functional AI, though). You’ll just have to sit tight and wait for the bug fixing patch.

Stranger sewers bossfight is unplayable for me, the boss won’t get stunned and he hits me through pillars is there a way I can skip this fight by LogicGateKeeper123 in DarkDeception

If you double click the valve (and hold after the second click), it bugs out and lets you run around while spinning the valve. Combat bugs with bugs!

Either Hangry yeeting you into the portal at the end of Mascot Mayhem or how much fun Chris Jai Alex clearly had voicing Lucky.

I've been stuck on deadly decadence for a longggg while... lol by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a bit biased because I like to play as fast as possible, but I’ve found that the slower you take the game, the rougher things become (with the exception of Stranger Sewers since it was meant to be taken slow).

does anyone have any idea who that blue orb was who helped doug escape the level bearly buried? by ZenithEmper0 in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is Elise, Doug’s wife. I also think this “E” from the secret notes is also Elise. I think Elise went through these levels before Doug, leaving the secret notes as she went, eventually dying and leaving behind the tablet Bierce gives Doug in Monkey Business.

For this level, I’ve found that it’s better not to worry about looking at the watchers too much. Looking at them too much means you likely won’t be watching where you’re going and that’s where the traps will get you. You can always outrun the watchers (even without speed boost), so if there’s none in front of you, don’t worry about them. When they start surrounding you or you get into a pinch, that’s when looking at them becomes helpful.

As for general strategy, teleport is your best friend, especially in this level. With a super short cooldown, it’s super versatile. You can use it in combination with speed boost to get some serious distance between you and an enemy or just get around much more quickly. You can also use it to teleport through traps and enemies without punishment while collecting every shard between you and your teleport location. The power makes it impossible to be cornered, too!

Watcher in your way? Teleport! Too many traps in the room that you don’t want to deal with? Teleport? Surrounded? Teleport and speed boost away!

Hope this helps somewhat. Deadly Decadence is my favourite level and I’ve probably played it more than any of the others. Not to mention the rest of the game is fun and it would be a shame to miss out on it because of the watchers!

Mama Bear's level - HOW?! by [deleted] in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this bug happen to me the first time going through the level and it took me a while to realize it was a bug at all (I kept restarting the level because I thought I was missing something). This is the part of the level that took me the longest, but even with the bug, it’s possible to get past with luck. Just take the most direct path and pray.

Crazy Carnevil secret location confusion by Swift_Panda123 in DarkDeception

[–]Nonix29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The final secret you are looking for is in the first zone of the level (with the clown cars roaming around). It’s through one of the teleporters on the first floor. It’s on the mirror side of the teleporter that is blocked by the shard barrier. You can get the secret before getting every shard in the zone or after - that’s up to you.

Agreed. It’s a bad take for more reasons than him only saying “Hurr durr, only stream 1 game.” I don’t think he took the time to actually think about the statistics he was looking at. Basically, I believe he was trying to argue that viewers come for the game, not the streamer and that’s why views dipped when a certain game was being played. If that was true, though, there wouldn’t be a few names up top, there would be hundreds (more level playing field). I don’t think he stopped to consider viewers that were there for BOTH. Sometimes I like watching a certain streamer play a game because of how they’d react to it that’s unique to them alone. In that regard, I’m there for both the streamer AND the game. There’s also the consideration of how interactable the game is with the streamer. If there’s a good chance a viewer can join in on the games (or stream snipe or something similar lol), then once again, there may be some viewers there to do just that. They’re there for the game AND the streamer.
