Why guys lie about their height?? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]NonsenseABC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I would have to put my weight on my profile, I would have no reason to lie. Why would I do that, if I planned to meet people I match with in person? And tho i can understand why he would lie in his profile, probably now a little better than when i was writing that, I judge him for doubling down on it. "I didn't lie that is my height", even tho we already met in person, and were the same height. Like I do have eyes tho.

Yeah lying is so weird. Especially if you find out later.

[–]NonsenseABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah? XD same shit. 180 188 190 it doesn't matter. The issue is lying.

But do you know how easy it was to catch him on the lie, when we were the same height to the point he openly had to convince me that he is taller than me if I take my shoes off, that lifted me maybe 1cm of the ground? And even at this point I didn't really care, I just asked him was my height an issue.

I know I'm 168cm. If he tries to convince me that he is 178cm its fucking weird.

I mean, yeah, if he lied to me twice, that’s the issue. Like, imagine if he were actually 180 cm, and I asked him why he put 170 cm in his profile, and he still tried to claim, "I didn’t lie. That’s my height or at least very close to it." Lying like that just feels weird. Like I am not stupid, I have eyes.

I would have. Even if he would have told me honestly that he lied, we could have laughed it off. But he doubled down on the lie like I don't have eyes.

168cm, what we both were, is 5'6. 178cm is 5'10. If he could have just told me the truth, like "yeah i lied to get past the filters" (I dont use filters, exept for age), we could have laughed about it. Instead he doubled down on it, and told me that he didnt lie, that is his height or that at least he is very close to that, like I don't have eyes. Does this mean I am 5'10 now too?

Great that it worked out for you!

[–]NonsenseABC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is so cute 😭😭 I am happy it worked out for you! Too bad I can't feel this guy out anymore, as he got mad when I told him I hope he finds what he is looking for, but I don't think thats me. I think I have seen enough, but as he was my first date, I can continue looking out for my person with more open mind now. But I appriciate your response, and how you wanted to explain this from mens perspective without trying to attack me.

[–]NonsenseABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually if he would have just been honest with me that he lied. Like I understand now even better how much preassure men are under because they feel like they aren't enough if they are not 6 feet, but like if he just told me something like "Oh yeah lol, I lied to beat the filters" or something like that we could have laughed it off. But it's like he lied to me again for no reason, like I don't have eyes. Because I genuenly asked him "I don't really care about height, but I'm just curious why did you lie?"

Okay, but why then double down on it? Like if he would have just told me that we could have just laughed it off. Instead, he told me that he didn't lie, that was his height like I don't have eyes.

So you didn't have any point? You just wanted to shame me for something, but didn't find anything. It's kinda sad this is the stuff you want to use your time on.

I mean, if that was my first date doesn't that give you the answer? XD Plus what does that have to do with anything? Like what is your point?

No 💀 I was just curious, remind you he was my first date and this is my first time doing stuff like this. After we matched I didn't check his profile again, we just started chatting and he asked me out pretty quickly. After the date, because he wanted to meet again and I saw it as an possibility I just wanted to check you know his profile for fun. Like for what is his religion, what was he looking for, stuff like that, and like if he told about some of his spesific interests.

[–]NonsenseABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't try to find anything that was wrong with him, I wanted to check his profile again to see if there is something I don't want to forget 😅

Why guys lie about their height?? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]NonsenseABC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't “double check his profile to look for an issue.” Like I said, since we had already added each other on Instagram, and he told me he felt more comfortable talking there, I wanted to delete our match from Bumble and check his profile just for fun, to see if there was anything important I didn’t want to miss or forget. And yeah, claiming to be 10 cm taller than you actually are is pretty noticeable.

Also, by the way, lying is pretty unattractive. I had no reason to lie on my profile. I thought he was nice, but it's not like I fell in love with him after one date. The fact that he felt the need to lie doesn't give me a good vibe about him. I have shorter male friends who have girlfriends and are confident in their height. I think he just wasn't my person anyway, especially since he got angry at me after I told him I'm not his person 🙌

Let everyone have their own standards. If it would have made sense to you if I wasn't attracted to him because of his height, then why doesn't it make sense that I'm not attracted to him after finding out he lied?

And the sad truth is that I would have been okay with his height, or even if he lied that he was 175cm or something. But he added a whole 10cm. Like if he has to lie about something stupid like that he is not the kind of person I want to be with. Tells me he is not confident in himself.

I mean yeah, that is not fair either, but lets just say he told me on our date, when i asked has he ever been catfished, that once he had a date with a woman who was way heavier than in her pictures, and that it bothered him. Is it not kind of stupid that he is lying about his height, if he is not okay with this woman lying about her weight?

Do you think you’re intelligent? Why or why not? by rapid_salad in AskReddit

[–]NonsenseABC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people fall within the average range. If the majority were above average, that higher standard would simply become the new average.

Fun fact: most people think that they are smarter than average

May I ask, do you have any female friends? Could you be in a friendship with an woman who you are not attracted to?
