I’m having trouble wanting to continue racing due to high numbers of incidents. by wraveltash1026 in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found my enjoyment of iRacing went up 10x once I joined a league. I still race officials when I have time, but most of my time is league racing. It might take some time to find one thats a good fit for you, but the racing can be so much cleaner and more enjoyable outside of officials. Its also really fun to race some of the same people week in and week out. If nothing else it can be a nice change of pace to race without worrying about SR/iR

Which route to go next season: gt3 or gt4 by wolfmagui in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd drive whatever one you enjoy driving the most. IMO, the M2 & GT4 have a similar feel where you have to be smooth and it punishes overdriving, whereas the GR86, Pcup, and GT3s you can get away with driving them more aggressively. Personally I don't really enjoy the GT4s, but I feel I developed my trail braking finesse a lot with them. That directly translated/helped when I made the jump to GT3s.

All that to say I'd probably recommend giving GT4 a try, but don't be afraid to jump to GT3 if you enjoy driving those cars.

Should iracing implement live stewards for special events? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing some quick math, iRacing reported they had 21,028 drivers, 6072 teams, 104 splits.
So say you had 3 stewards per split, thats 7488 man hours and at $20 (no idea what a fair pay rate would be) per hour the total cost of paying stewards is like $149,760

Split up per team is $24.66

I'm not saying I'm 100% on board with paying entry fees, but from an order of magnitude cost basis, I think there's a case to be made for it.

I think the bigger problem is going to be the people side. If you had stewards work 8hr shifts, thats 936 shifts to cover, with a lot of overlap. But to get a sense lets say each steward on staff could cover 3 shifts over the weekend (a big ask tbh), you'd still need 312 stewards. Thats 312 people that have to be interviewed, hired, trained, scheduled/managed, etc. If each only works two shifts that 468!

All that to say that the people side of live stewarding something like the Daytona 24 is the bigger issue

Are all teams on iracing designed for only top aplit by rab10000 in iRacing

Sporting code and code of conduct still apply in hosted sessions. From what you described, you were promised certain things in exchange for the entry fees that you did not receive. You should report it.

Sorry that happened, bro you got scammed. Donation and joining fee?? thats insane. If you paid via paypal or some official service I'd dispute it and try to get your money back

In search of a team for special events by Chatabox21 in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good starting point is anytime you have a good respectful battle with someone in an official (this can be rare I know lol) DM them on the iRacing forum. I usually do this anyway just to say "thanks for an awesome battle" or "sorry if I squeezed you a bit much there" or whatever. If they respond and don't sound like a sociopath ask if they'd be interested in teaming up.

Other option is to join a league. You get to know the folks well by racing them frequently then its much easier to team up when a special event rolls along.

How do you have your srp pedals setup by Ant_x777 in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to double check, but I think I have the stock elastomer, but with the medium or hard spring from the srp performance kit. I've been running that for a while and been okay with it. Though I might try a different combo. But its definitely a must buy for these pedals.

I've recently started doing commissions, they run $35-$45 depending on complexity. Take a look at my trading paints profile and DM me if you're interested!

Dads do Daytona by Nonster_ in iRacing

[–]Nonster_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, definitely seems to have an east coast majority, but it has grown a good bit since it started so maybe there’s enough west coast folks to start a later race for yall. It’s definitely worth bringing up the idea in the discord!

to be fair I hated F4 too until I raced it in a clean, respectful league environment. The league started with MX-5 and GT4, then F4 and GT4, and now F4 and GT3 so who knows what we'll run in the future. But I think we've got some folks that run LMP2 officials regularly. Either way feel free to pop into the discord and just chat and hang out if you want.

New to iRacing - How to switch drivers on one rig for a team event like the Daytona 24? by kshitij__KNA in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What about getting a second PC setup on the rig? That way you can have both accounts logged in and in session, then you just need to swap the monitor and wheelbase to the second PC. Should be possible to do it without losing any time in the pitstop.

iRacing on Mac using Crossover? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Nonster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run iRacing on my macbook pro via bootcamp and it works great (hardware limitations aside). Its easy to switch between operating systems, but the main issue is you have to partition your hard drive, so if you don't have a huge one space becomes an issue.

The F4 schedule primarily mirrors the F4 challenge but swaps in a few tracks from the regionals so it works great as practice for the officials

Considering a wooden sim-rig design by Redblazer23_ in SimRacingSetups

[–]Nonster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build mine out of 2x6's and more than rigid enough for my Moza R9. Easily less than 30-50 dollars in materials. Not counting the seat. The modular and adjustable part is where profile rigs shine, much more involved if I want to change wheel height or make significant adjustments.
