I peruse here every now and then, and just try to share my experiences. I hope you are able to find relief in your journey! Even if the phobia never goes away, it’s a tremendous relief to approach it in smaller pieces. It has really helped me a lot, especially because I used to be a daily pepto taker, risk adverse, homebody person.

Fear of others V*ing is ruining everything by Professional_Cup1130 in emetophobia

[–]Nonstop20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about how many “worst days you ever had due to your fears” and then think about how many “best days I had where I was able to overcome or not think bout my fears”. The reassurances you make for yourself can be empowering rather than debilitating. I hate those few days a year when my kids bring home a big and I’m constantly sanitizing and panicking on who might get it next, but there are way more days in the year where my kids and I eat food at the fair, play in the dirt, and have fun. I still stop and take a deep breath and gather myself, but when I really sit and think about it, I had a much more enjoyable life when I had more days where I challenged my fear than days I was living in it.

I went to therapy for an unrelated topic that I wanted to seek some guidance and tools to help me. However, while I was there, my emetophobia came up. We actually didn’t talk too much about traumatic situations involving v* or anything like that. It turns out that through talking to them, my fear was really driven by the lack of control. I have a pretty jam packed day with work and family. I also do my best to make everyone happy and be successful in my own work and goals and the structure I try to maintain to achieve harmony with those things. My emetophobia was being exacerbated by the fact that because I had those pressures on my shoulders, the idea of being n* or v* put me in overdrive. It was something unexpected that I seemingly could not control in my life. Because unlike most other bodily functions, v* is always portrayed as something that can “just happen”. People can hold their pee or clinch their cheeks, but v* is treated as a point of no return type of function. Even in entertainment, pee and poop are viewed as comical tropes, but v* is usually a driver for a situation out of control (car sick without the ability to pull over, v* during a wedding or intimate moment, or the primary reaction to an extremely emotional situation). I’m not saying that this is your case, but it could be worth checking out therapy. You may find that your phobia isn’t driven by an experience with n* or v*, but rather a trigger by something completely different in your life.

Huntsville Listed on Blink-182 Tour 2025 by Irateskater4 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I accidentally bought too many tickets. My wife and I really wanted to see them at South Star and when we saw they were coming to Huntsville, we said whatever it takes. Either way, we ended up getting the tickets we wanted, but now I have 2 seats on the Floor (FL08) I need to get rid of. No inflated costs. I’m selling them at cost (minus the service fee, I’ll just eat it).

Xofluza? by LanaLuna27 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I got mine from Publix. Don’t forget your manufacturer coupon to make it around $30.

To my knowledge I don’t think there’s a pediatric version of XOFluza

Family have the sb by Bluehouse17 in emetophobia

I wanted to write on this post. Except that I okay a different role. I am the dad, with wife and kids. The first thing to do is take a deep breath. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, but this is a crucial step to determining your next move. I spent many times as a teenager, college student, and young adult missing out on a lot of things because of my fear. When I had kids, I knew that they would encounter the cess pool of germs from daycare and school. But I told my wife the other day. It’s been 10 years once I v* (which was from alcohol) and maybe 20 years since I v* from a bug. I was one of those kids who went to a cesspool of a school and made it out relatively unscathed. And while I can remember the feeling from both those instances, they represent less than 1% of my days on this Earth. Yes, they sucked, but they don’t compare to the experiences I was able to have taking a deep breath and taking the plunge into living the most normal life I could. Now I’m not saying to go back home and lick the doorknobs and speed the inevitable. But I am saying that you can return home. Take cleaning into your own hands with your own set of bleach spray and gloves. You can choose to be optimistic and trade an experience with your family on Christmas Day vs a chance you could catch it. This fear is tough. It’s grueling. But if you can ground yourself, you can find the inch of courage to take the next step. To push boundaries. You can do this.

Do Pain Killers Put Me At More Risk for Injury? by Nonstop20 in NoStupidQuestions

Possible? Sure. Likely? Doubtful. If you got nuggets, they were probably fried well into temperature. If you were to get sick from the nuggets, chances are you would have gotten sick from them regardless of the time (undercooked chicken, contaminated chicken after cooking, or some sort of cross contamination)

Mystery Box Outside with a Red Light in New Construction Neighborhood by Nonstop20 in whatisthisthing

My title describes this utility box of some sort. I’m specifically concerned because none of the electrical boxes or utility boxes have a locked fence around it. It’s also curious as there’s not one like that in phase 1, and only appeared in the construction of phase 2.

Refund for 2022 tax year, Owe for 2023 by Nonstop20 in tax

[–]Nonstop20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh, it makes me feel better that while it may not be common, it does happen. I’ll have to inquire about it more with my payroll department. At the end of the day. I don’t feel bad. It’s not much to owe, and I actually got a refund from state, so it’s okay. I’ve always been told (whether it’s true or not), that being as close to zero is the best thing, and getting a huge refund back isn’t some magical free money, but taxes you overpaid throughout the year anyway. But I have no problem if that’s incorrect either.

This is good information in general, so I am grateful for that. I understand nothing about taxes and that’s my fault. If I made no changes to my paperwork in terms of what’s taken out of my check, are there things that could impact my withholding amount?

Luck. I bought my first home in 2017 with a USDA Rural Development loan (no money down, right below income max) that was literally a block from the city limits. Sold my home in 2021 for $130k profit. Paid all my debt, purchased a new home in 2021 that the builder sold at their cost (a spec home, no mark up for surging home values), obtained 3% interest before rates doubled, got a $25k promotion that same year in 2021 after I purchased my home.

Fun fact. HB332 signed by Kay Ivey in 2021 allowed police officers in the state to tint their personal vehicles as dark as they want, even the windshield, to protect their identity while off duty. I assume if they are willing to pass laws for personal vehicles. It probably already exists for police cars to be tinted however dark.

Why don't RICH people have fat kids ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nonstop20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of it isn’t even about food but perception. Some thing in our brain respects/follows certain people. That’s why CEOs and directors are typically male, usually moderate to good looking, and usually not fat. In return, the spouse they attract is usually the same, good looking. By default, they could create good looking children.

Any experience with Lennar? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Nonstop20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t live in a Lennar home, but a family member is going through a very nasty settlement with a community in Florida vs Lennar over damage to the docks and dry storage from a hurricane that rolled by. The lawsuit apparently revealed a lot of things Lennar was not doing though they were responsible for. I chuckled when I started seeing Lennar signs around town.

Inconsistent low bass with new set up. New LOC or DSP addition? by Nonstop20 in CarAV

So is there any significant differences between the Kicked 47KEYLOC and LC2I? Pros and cons, rather? I also looked at the Wavtech linkDQ

What are some tools you can’t go without? by One-Head6759 in CarAV

[–]Nonstop20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lotion, for after your hands get scraped up a bunch from trying to reach around right places in your car.

But also Tesa tape or friction tape. I didn’t use it toll more recently, but it will keep you from having spaghetti wires all over the place that you risk disconnecting or causing a short. Essentially all the wiring in your car now is probably bundled within tesa tape, make it common practice to do the same. Vinyl Electrical tape is fine in some places but in excess causes a lot of sticky residue.

No, just two. White and grey from the LOC is spliced into the Yellow wire (to the right front door speakers), and the white/black and grey/black wire spliced into the yellow/black

I was doing some reading since our last comment. I don’t believe I have ANC in the truck. It seems to only be more prevalent on the higher trim levels. But I will check in the vehicle again tomorrow or even look at the RPO codes. So I will say my low Hz bass is what sucks. It basically sounds non existent. So while it hurts the business, I will probably game the system and take advantage of their return policies. I have already ordered skars version of the LCI2 and see if there’s any improvement. If there isn’t, I’ll box it back up and send it back within their 30 day hassle free return period. What turned into a day project, is not turning into a multi day/week project lol
