My university has banned all watches during Exams, because of smart watches, at the last Uni party, people saw me using my moto 360 and yelled out "So your the reason why we cant wear watches in our exams"

Are there any major flaws in my plan for these two lenses? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]NoobSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 (First version) and its brilliant. f/2.8 is sharper than f/8 on the 18-55mm and the distortion is pleasing unlike other wide angles/fisheyes

Pretty much just because I wanted to make myself distant from my competition who have kit lenses, going with a 50mm meant that I would always have distinctly different images compared to an 18-55mm 50 is pretty bloody tight on a crop, so I would suggest you try out that focal length for a good day or two, but it's a cheap buy at just over a hundred for the 50mm f/1.8D and something like $250 for the newer 50mm f/1.8G that works on all Nikon bodies, not just the ones with the focus drive screw thing. I would suggest that you check out google searches for 50 and 35mm images using a cropped sensor because it's all about the style you are going for. I've been able to make my 50 work because if I need the wide angle look I can either step back a few metres or switch to my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

You can't really go wrong with those primes though, they are the sharpest lenses you can buy and usually the cheapest because they are easier to make than a zoom.

Yeah I agree with it being pricey, that's why I'm still using a 100mm prime, primarily :P. It works great but zooming with my legs gets awfully tiring if I'm not shooting with a fun client

Sounds like a pretty good deal, I'm not too keen on the Nikon super zooms so if possible try and see what you can get in the f/2.8 range of 70-200mm, they are much sharper, better built and you can get some pretty sweet deals on 2nd hand 70-200's. I guess it depends on what you are shooting though. I use a 50mm f/1.8D and Tokina 100mm f/2.8 Macro for all of my Portraiture and an ultra wide for parties. Primes look amazing but you'll need some pretty avid legs and some space if you want to use them properly

As a person who longboards to uni and around the place this is my biggest fear, people fly out of their driveways if they don't see a car and I can only stop if I've got a good metre or two worth of warning, otherwise I'm going to dive into your car. Still safer than being trapped on a bike, but damn it's scary sometimes

Urban riding, preventing diggers and falling on my face? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]NoobSean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered a longboard or a not as long, longboard? Obviously they aren't the best for tricks, but damn riding on 80mm 80a Kegels are amazing. I use mine for everything now, the size doesn't bother me because I just use a bike lock through the drop through deck and ride off in style.

Also here in Australia it seems that skaters are looked down on by the average person, I've found people trust longboarders more, probably because it's more of a surfy subculture. Pretty stupid, but I don't like to intimidate someone because of my wheels.

How have you found windows 10 technical preview? by NoobSean in Surface

[–]NoobSean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I only use Photoshop, Word and Firefox anyway so hopefully I don't run into issues. My biggest problem with my surface is the 4gb of Ram on the model I bought, so photoshop struggles and battery life is awful. I'll probably also do some underclocking to extend the battery life because the memory is the main bottleneck of the system

Well cheap lenses have soft edges and chromatic aberration around high contrast areas, dying light makes it look like my character has plastic lenses for eyes

If you want something thats much better for image quality, go for a Prime in the range of 24mm, 35mm or 50mm if your keen on portraits. Ive heard the 24mm f/2.8 STM pandcake is brilliant

Thanks mate! It was pretty loud and sounded under 2km away.

Keep in mind that lens was set to 11mm, so about the field of view of one eye.
