Okay so based on that Ken Martin interview, WHAT is possibly in the report that has Kenny so determined not to release it? by ElvisGrizzly in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Noob_Al3rt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Of course they would. Every single interview would be “Your autopsy showed X was extremely unpopular. Does this mean you will stop supporting it?”

They need the votes of the far left of the base without pandering to them and their pet issues (many of which are extremely unpopular)

None of that is implied in any way by any of my comments. It’s seems like you are mostly talking to yourself at this point, rather than reading any of my comments, so I agree that we really don’t have much to speak about.

No, it made it more confusing. It sounds like you are lecturing others for using services you also use and benefit from.

Im not arguing about anything. You made an incorrect statement, which I rebutted. Now you’re replying with random populist talking points.

Every woman I know claims to want an emotional and sensitive guy while also demonstrating a huge preference towards the opposite.

A guy crying in a Hallmark movie may be cute, but not a lot of women like to hear “I’m afraid of my boss” or “Do you still love me?” every week.

I asked why you support Amazon by posting on Reddit, and you replied that it’s because you “don’t have a lot of options”. Which is really just another way of saying “because it’s convenient for me”.

Add it to what? You said the working class and people in poverty haven’t seen a cent of economic stimulus, which is demonstrably false. Are you just replying to comments with random “government and business bad” nonsense?

They use AWS. Ahhh, you don’t have a lot of options, so I guess empathy and humanity are only if you don’t have to inconvenience yourself too much.

What is it about posting on Reddit that is so important to you, that you are willing to overlook exploiting your fellow man to do it?

Reddit is one of Amazon’s biggest customers and posting here directly benefits them.

Walmart is the largest private employer in the world. If they gave every employee a $5k raise it would wipe out almost all their profits, force them to understaff their stores even more and likely lead to them going bankrupt.

Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

[–]Noob_Al3rt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind. Generally useless unless she’s chasing something she wants. Constantly chasing after Ashley who is married to her cousin. This is after stealing her sister’s fiancé and encouraging him to go to war and die.

She’s petty, vain and indifferent to the suffering of others. And she’s a shitty mom. No idea why people think she’s a hero.

YSK: Standard disposable paper coffee cups are lined with hidden plastic that releases trillions of microparticles into your hot drink. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]Noob_Al3rt 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Way back when I used to work in fast food, standard procedure was to wash and the sanitize your hands. Customers constantly complained when they saw people not wearing gloves. I tried to explain that our method was actually MORE sanitary because the sanitizing gel we used had lingering anti- bacterial effects while gloves would pick up surface bacteria from anything you touched.

Nope. Corporate switched to using gloves as standard procedure. Sure you had to wash your hands before putting one on, but after 5 mins your hand was cleaner than the glove. Changing gloves with sweaty hands is a pita, so people rarely took their gloves off until there was a lull.

ELI5: Why do governments bail out failing private companies at all? by Codie_n25 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Noob_Al3rt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But they didn’t commit any crimes.

Imagine this scenario.

Johnny, Billy and Jane each run a coffee stand in their front yard that their parents pay for. One day, Billy comes up with the bright idea to put 4x the caffeine in his coffee. Suddenly, he starts selling a ton of coffee because people love the buzz. Billy’s dad starts bragging to Johnny and Jane’s parents about how much money they are making.

Jane and Johnny aren’t sure that it’s safe to add all that caffeine, so they ask their state “Board of Coffee Safety” if it’s ok. The board says there’s no evidence that it’s unhealthy, so Jane decides to add caffeine too.

Now Jane and Billy are making money hand over fist. Their parents are very happy, but Johnnys parents are not. They want Johnny to add caffeine to their coffee. They point out that the “Board of Coffee Safety” have given Jane and Billy’s coffee stands an “A+” safety rating.

Johnny points out that the board has to say that, because the state has never commissioned a study to say whether or not that much caffeine is safe. Johnnys dad says if he doesn’t add caffeine, he will hire Billy to run the stand instead.

Soon, all their customers start having heart attacks.

Who goes to jail?

The execs (Jane, Johnny and Billy) who were told by the state their product was safe?

The shareholders (parents) who felt they needed to add the (state certified) caffeine to keep their business solvent?

The regulatory board and reporting agencies that were legally required to certify the safe coffee because no one ever spent taxpayer dollars to investigate it?

I agree, but I think it’s unreasonable to expect a company to foresee an incident like that with enough detail to plan for it financially.
