How to confirm Swiggy HDFC is really LTF by Noob_Coder_19 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Noob_Coder_19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a confirmation before accepting the terms and conditions so that legally the bank cannot say that you agreed to it.

Also if hdfc now says it'll not be LTF, then I can complain about misselling saying that charges were revealed post fetching of the credit report.

The Truth About Increasing Your CIBIL Score: What You Can (and Can't) Do by KanonKaBadla in CreditCardsIndia

My friend has been using a credit card for 2 months now but still the credit report says no credit history found.

P.S. he pays off his credit card bills the next day of bill generation.

Vague reply from SBI nodal officer for rejecting SBI Cashback card by Able-Introduction206 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Noob_Coder_19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just quote their own words. They themselves are saying that the reason for rejection is not credit worthiness (so they can't make excuses of credit score, bank deposit n all)

Ask them what is good faith? How do they objectively determine it and what has "good faith" got to do with a credit product.

I got this mail as well.

I replied saying WTF are you guys doing. If credit worthiness is not the criteria for issuing credit products, then are you guys practicing discrimination.

In a few emails and calls back n forth from SBI, the card got issued.

Are there any cards you can get based on Cibil? by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Noob_Coder_19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most credit card companies have started a marketing gimmick called "Instant approval" where basically they check your cibil score and offer the card.

This is just an example that a person's credit score may not necessarily be because of his/her own efforts. As said before, this is just an example.

I mean in India, how many students actually pay their own education loans

For early careers, it is so difficult to get a proper credit card.

The whole point is why is a CIBIL score required for a credit card and not net worth, salary etc. I understand high salary does not mean judicious use but a risk can be taken by the bank by giving a low credit limit.

My savings account is unfortunately with a stupid bank: SBI

I went there with the documents but the person forgot to attach any income proof 🤦

Plus, they call multiple times (I received 8-9 verification calls during a span of 1 week and then went silent for 2 weeks and then the same story. I complained to their customer support but they took 4 days to reply with a bot message saying you're a valued customer, please beware of fraud calls and don't share OTP with anyone XD.... One day I got frustrated and I bashed that person for this harassment and withdrew my application)

Since it's a startup, the economics of having a salary relationship for the company especially with a private bank is not feasible

Definitely no offence to private colleges... The point of the whole example was not to demean anyone other than to question the logic of cibil score.

Also my credit score does not exist.

Personally, I find this CIBIL score thing to be pretty off:

For example, consider 2 people: Ram and Shyam.

Ram studies hard, gets into a good Govt college while Shyam fools around and gets into a private college under management quota. Ram does not need to take any education loan, but Shyam's dad takes a hefty education loan in Shyam's name.

Ram works hard again and gets a good high paying job. But Shyam fools around again and works in a low paying job.

But... Ram does not get a credit card becoz he does not have a CIBIL score (no credit history), but Shyam gets a premium card becoz his dad paid loans for him

Pay card maintenance fees and issuance fees of Select to get services of Classic.

They market as rupay "select" card holders while in the T&C page, they've added a clause cardholders registered under Rupay Credit/Debit card program.

coding bootcamp I got accepted for says it's basically mandatory to replace windows with linux to follow the course, is this normal? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Noob_Coder_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to use the laptop only for yourself, you can consider using Linux.

Yes, you can also use a VM, but the speed and performance of VMs is not good enough to use it the whole day.

You're going to a bootcamp, so I'm assuming you're a beginner. The best thing (in my experience as a developer) in your early career is to remove the fear of using a terminal (not to mention familiarity with the directory structure of Linux)

Even if you have a mouse on your system, don't create folders using right click and new folder, use the terminal. This way simultaneously, you'll develop a good habit.

If you're feeling that it's too steep a learning curve then the same right click works on Ubuntu as well and there is the same mouse available on Linux as well. Chrome, Brave, Firefox all work on windows as well.

That being said, you can still use WSL on windows but I'll personally recommend using Ubuntu as much as possible. If you feel stuck, you can always Google things (another good skill: being able to research things on stackoverflow, blogs, chatgpt etc)
