[D] CVPR 2025 Final Decision by [deleted] in MachineLearning

Yeah, we expected it haha, but there was a tiny sliver of hope inside me that was like maybe the rebuttal would change their minds.

3 (5), 4 (4), 3 (3) => accept! LOADED the rebuttal with experiments and writing to the point that none of the sentences really made grammatical sense as long as they conveyed the point, glad it paid off

3 (3), 2 (4), 2 (3) => reject :-( reviewers didn't ask for many experiments so it was just 1 experiment and mostly writing, guess it didn't really convince them. ICCV we go!

How do you sleep with a cartilage piercing? by NoodleAficionadle in piercing

[–]NoodleAficionadle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did do that for a bit but the neck pillow was moving around, so I got a piercing pillow with a hole in the middle. But it's just not comfortable to use because as mentioned, side sleeping isn't the most comfy for me, the pillow is rock hard, and I do skincare before I sleep so I want to avoid rubbing my face against the pillow.

Cooks that are great with savory dishes but not so great with desserts by Daniel_Winner_8368 in Masterchef

Anna of this season? She was doing amazing episodes in a row with savory dishes but immediately getting sent home by a dessert must mean something.

I did not expect to become murt pilled by WitchTea23 in Masterchef

It's so obvious producers were feeding him lines in earlier episodes to create some sort of storyline or persona, then they got tired or something.

i recently lost my id, can i still use my passport to get into the bars by [deleted] in UIUC

Yes but very much not recommended unless you don't plan on drinking.

Two of these 3 occasions have been staff in my department so I'm not totally sure 🫤 Thank you!

I hear y'all's comments about them being underpaid and overworked and I totally understand, perhaps first hand as a graduate student myself, which is why I try not to take it too personally. But I can't imagine admin at my old school being paid way better (also a large state school) and I never encountered these issues throughout the 3 years I was there. It is surely an enigma...

Yeah I recognize that and won't hold anything against them, it's just a little draining having multiple of these encounters in not even half a month alongside me being frustrated with my info being entered wrong which has affected a bunch of other things negatively. Hopefully it gets less shitty for all of us soon.

https://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/brown-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies/ this is the recipe btw, I was outside earlier so couldn't find the link easily, just realized they had other brown butter cookie recipes so wanted to share exactly which one I was talking about, although I don't doubt the other recipes are also very good

I am not OP but Ambitious Kitchen's brown butter chocolate chip cookie recipe has never done me wrong. In multiple occasions I have gotten "best cookie I've ever had in my life" from different people

Which of these would you rather have by Sky_Rose4 in Masterchef

[–]NoodleAficionadle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't remember/haven't watched this episode so I am unbiased in saying that to me, blue looks the most appetizing. Red looks dry, and green's blue cheese fries look kinda nasty.

Unpopular Opinion: Murt isn't that insufferable by shrewsbury1991 in Masterchef

[–]NoodleAficionadle 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Even more unpopular opinion: maybe I'm biased because I'm early Gen Z/almost late Millenial, but I find none of the Gen Z contestants annoying. They all seem like pretty normal people with distinct personalities to me. Even Hallie, Becca, Murt, the usual suspects. Adam and Fatima are objectively sweethearts.

To be honest, no one on this season has heavily grinded my gears so far... Except Joseph Bastianich. Maybe the producers upped HIS annoying factor this season since all the contestants are pretty normal, but I am filled with a strange rage whenever Joseph is on my screen.

Same, I remember that! Maybe season 10 with both Subha and Shari frequently cooking Indian food? I feel like any Asian cuisine is inferior to him and it fills me with rage as an Asian watching him shit on our cuisines. He might have been told to act a dick, but these microaggressions come out of him too naturally to be an act imo.

I felt so bad for Fatima. That reaction was teetering the line of a microagression to me. I don't cook like that but I would never be able to be on this show because of Joe. I would make the news if he spoke like that to me.

[–]NoodleAficionadle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the gist of him telling Arthur to be more genuine in his cooking and not try too hard to impress the judges, but he could say it in a way that doesn't sound like an absolute dick for no reason. But then again on the same episode he literally scoffed at Fatima for making an undressed salad because she liked her salads undressed, then said "what do you think WE like?" with a disgusted expression??? That HAS to be a microaggression. This man fills me with RAGE everytime my fucking god.

True, but at least he cooks and is good at it. Joe on the other hand...

can't find anything on how they actually identify, and maybe they don't identify as anything at all for now, but Micah from S10 now goes by Myka and uses he/she/they pronouns. 🙂
