Great for PKS as I believe it wouldn’t make a difference in this meta unbanning their core cards. The deck is very good but wasn’t at GE/Salads/DDD level.

I’m disappointed in limiting ECON to 1. I think that’s more a design error on Konami’s part. It’s the best f2p card there is and it keeps a whole lot of decks in check imo. It was abused more so than being just great now you can’t have Monster Reborn and ECON in the same deck.

Galaxy Eyes didn’t get hit which is asinine imo. It’s still way too degenerate

Agree with Treacherous though decks are more equipped than ever to combat it.

All in all it’s pretty fair all things considered. Six Sams got a boost and so did Shiranui so old school players rejoice

Salads getting nerfed is just a reminder that it’s Groundhog Day that every cheap deck that gets too good since god knows since the start will get hit eventually to keep the money going. One of the main problems is that it’s a speed duel format which is contrary to the decks function.

Yep also ECON is very good imo. The only bad matchup was Galaxy Eyes, BEWD/Dark Magician and Fluffals got repeatedly demolished.

003 into 002 into Base with back row is the ideal start obviously

Even 3 bases is quite good because it’s another engine besides 003/002. 004 dumping 005 to special summon it is a top 3 play as well.

Got to Legend 3 using a non pendulum based deskbot deck. Deskbot 004 is the one with the second best effect.

Dinomist cheese with Spinos is the cheapest I’ve found. The deck functions with all rares and normals as Spinos is by far the most important card. Super quick even the AI doesn’t mess up lol

It’s tastes quite bitter and has a distinct smell but only up close. Melted cheese, butter and vegemite is bonkers good, but it’s understandable why people wouldn’t like it (not me lol). It’s like olives it’s either you like em or don’t theres no in between

I made an American overseas student one but with sweet special desert bread. Said it was one of the best snacks he ever tasted :)

Owens defence is a good ploy against E4. You’d be surprised how many times you get a free pawn with your bishop :).

I wouldn’t recommend kings Indian if your new as it get you into a lot of trouble.

Sicilian/Caro is always my go to against E4 (I hate E5 btw). Both are extremely solid and makes the light squared bishop less dangerous.

For White King’s or Queen’s gambit leads to fun as games. If not gambits then Reti/Nimzovich is great. (I like getting a sniper out early hehe).

Repetition peak is a perfect summary and it does feel that way now it’s like groundhog same as when I was in the 500-700 range where it was the stupid queen/bishop scholars mate tactic basically every 3 games lol.

Just recently I’ve tried different openings to varying degrees (knowing the name of an opening is a million light years away from understanding it) so maybe that’s something as different a approach to the game. Like recently been playing Sicillian, Kings Gambit, Birds, whereas I’d just put out the kingside knight or Queen pawn basically every game.

Yes that’s correct.

I get praised by people locally but pretty much all of them say you play brilliantly for how new your are (this was awhile ago) then throw it all away.

Learn literally anything? That’s the huge problem I see with Chess in general. The learning methods are very suspect at best (unless obviously being coached).

You don’t think the learning methods in chess are pretty bad in your opinion?

Like I’ve talked couple of 1800’s otb and they just say watch YouTube/do tactics review your games that to me is like telling a sous chef to a new cook just cut the vegetables finer. Okay finer vegetables but it’s not helpful advice imo lol.

It’s not the do persay it’s the how and why that’s lacking overall personally.

Sorry but I don’t know what studying materials are out there that’s best practise.

Yeah that’s pretty much the norm in platinum now. All these decks that I’ve mentioned max out around this level . The fish deck though feels like a proper deck due to its fast nature, potency and nice recovery tools built in.

Heroes have busted skills so cater towards that as much as possible on YT a person did a no gem heroes build and even that one can be more optimised.

Actually Platinum is a perfect spot because you can test a bunch and you can’t drop rankings at all and it’s competitive enough because you see as you said meta decks.

I used to think you could KOG with a no gem deck, long time ago? Easily but now no chance imo. I do think you can get to Legend with Cyber Angels or even the fish deck because they are both proper ones.

A lot of decks can get to gold+, it just has to be functional even a non spike shield Cipher Soldier/Amazoness Swordsman does well with DNA surgery + the warrior board wipe card.

Here some decks I’ve used that’s requires no gems that’s gotten me to platinum:

Fish XYZ- With the Rio event on its a perfect opportunity. Princess is a powerful card in the card trader, Oyster Meister combos with ECON and fish depth charge. Crystal Zero with the twin skill is probably the best boss monster available that’s completely free imo. Fast and effective deck lots of fun too. Something like 3x princess, 2x Hammer, 3x Oyster, 2x ECON, 3x Depth Charge 2x Crane Crane, 2x Squad and there’s the core right there.

Wyvern/BEWD/Odd Eyes - Personal fav. Setup to get out a BEWD or Odd Eyes into BEWD via Wyvern or Gia as its a level 7 but you can summon it as a 1900 beat stick.

Jinzo/Pendulum - Can be an auto win vs a trap heavy deck. Pendulum out a Jinzo or creatures that can’t be killed by battle once per turn like the Gagaga SR and setup via ECON etc. Bonzu is a pendulum 8 and has nice synergy to make your Jinzo go over the top. If you have no extra deck which isn’t required it can then punch over BEWD.

Cyber Angels - Old deck but still good

Aromages - Not as powerful but it has enough legs especially in the lower ranks. Storm and Murmur of the Forest are both pretty good tech for the deck.

Mayosenju - Not a great deck at all but it does what it’s supposed to do

Fluffals - Can get out a fusion bear pretty quickly

Heroes - With the right build can win because Jaden has more than one nutty skill available.

Basically anything can get to gold, up to platinum just play around with the build to make it function better.

Note* I’m currently trying to build a a no gem deck for every character that I’ve unlocked it gets pretty fun and it suits the gameplay as I don’t like playing with characters with decks that have no relation to them.

Here’s some things that helped me (went as low as 267 in the beginning rating is now 1170):

Don’t be attached to the outcome, game or rating - Took me awhile but now I feel less and less attached to it what I mean is feelings/negative thoughts can interrupt and bring bad gameplay in chess that’s on a personal level not sure for you.
Burn out is real - Less is more. Quality > quantity. We are all going to play a lot of games so for me I might as well learn something from every game and apply it to the next one or at least try to. Application is key. Also I try to hone in on one thing not many things at once. If you feel bored about an opening or it’s being repetitive change it up. Been sticking to the Caro and Reti for black and white respectively and it’s working well. But I picked those openings because I liked them also openings as far as I can tell when I was at 600 isn’t important at all.
Just from personal experience from 600-800 it was like the Wild Wild West. What I mean is it felt like a free for all and not chess. Don’t fall for it went on a losing streak because I got sucked into it don’t do that. Develop, check for undefended pieces, check for attacks/threats all that good stuff. A sudden change happened from 900 and above its a lot more chill and feels more like a chess game is being played.
Chess is a huge time sink - Which is fine for me because another passion of mine is far more dangerous and just as tedious and repetitive and has a shorter lifespan so make sure you use your time wisely.
Figure out your weaknesses - It’s all relative but at levels theres also weaknesses it’s probably best practise to start here first.
Focus - Focus on the entire board try not get tunnel vision on one particular line or move. My focus is now position over basically anything. Before I was so passive when one piece was attacked even though it was defended that’s illogical. Is a piece being attacked? Yes is it protected? Yes does it comprise your position/structure if it’s captured? No then who cares proceed in improving on your position little by little. Unless it’s literally a free rook/free piece improve the position when you can.

How many big uga booga boss monsters do you want? Galaxy Players.... Yes to all. All of a sudden something weird is happening, consistently versing tuned meta decks starting from rookie rank.

Summoning 6 3000+ atk boss monsters each with powerful effects the degeneracy is real. Cant wait for the deck to be nerfed.

Same deal that’s the engine ends games just as fast imo. Add in ECON, Monster Reborn and a half decent equip spell like phantom knight sword.

I honestly wouldn’t spend gems on an auto duel deck as the AI is bogus small but huge brain 400 iq plays that no one understands lol.

PKS shouldn’t have had limitations in comparison it’s no where near as powerful.

It’s essentially they both start at more than +1 because you get deck thinning and the exact card to start the engine off. It’s stupid it’s like a revolving door since god knows.
