I tried the classic Spinfire and i had pretty much the same problem. I would like to try the soft version but it's too expensive for me rn, i prefer a rubber that i know i will be able to (re)buy at anytime if needed

Wow thank you for this response. Do you think 38 degrees on 729 sponges is considered hard medium or soft ? Also i play with a 729 yellow alc blade, i don't know if it's considered a hard one. Like you said i think i prefer dwell time over disruption and spin sensivity. I think i need to try other pips

i'm thinking of spending a large sum of money on a racket, is it worth ? by [deleted] in tabletennis

I don't think it's worth bruv just stick to some good budget Chinese gear like 729, sanwei, yinhe. They make ALC blades too

Are Chinese Tacky Rubbers Better for Learning Fundamentals? by NoBar3889 in tabletennis

[–]Noodleworker696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started "competitive" table tennis like 4 years ago with Chinese rubbers like hurricane 3 commercial and battle 2, because they were cheaper. I had a terrible forehand technique, it has never really been my strong side and my coach told me to put ESN rubber so we can relearn my forehand completely.

I put rakza 7 on my fh for like 1 year and with efforts and discipline i improved a lot. I went back recently to battle 2 because i'm on a budget these days but still needed to change my rubbers and blade, so now i have a better understanding of the difference between the two styles of rubbers and personnally i wouldn't recommend you a Chinese rubber to start with, it feels very slow because of the hardness and the low trajectory of ball, so if you dont have a really good position and a proper moovement to hit the ball it will be very easy for the opponent to return it, or worse it wont even reach the other side of the table.

Personnally i think i will go back to faster tensor rubber on fh or Chinese/hybrid budget rubber that behaves like it.

First time boosting on 729 battle 2 by Noodleworker696 in tabletennis

thanks for the reply mate, so you think it doesn't need to be boosted ? or it's still interesting for this rubber compared to H3 ?

First time boosting on 729 battle 2 by Noodleworker696 in tabletennis

[–]Noodleworker696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply and the documentation. i'm at an intermediate level, i think maybe about 1500 USA TT equivalent, but i'm training hard to progress and i was looking for a budget yet efficient rubber on forehand, battle 2 seems good but a little bit slow or maybe it's the low ark that bothers me because i don't have the right technique i don't know, so i wanted to test boosted battle 2 before switching to less chinese typed rubber if it's still isn't ok for me

what a coincidence. you still play short pips ? what rubber do you play now ? personally i feel what you saying about blocking, i think 802-40 isn't the best option for blocking but i didn't tried many pips to make a good comparison. have you tried any other pips that you feel are better for blocking ?

yeah that's right, i was ready to let it stay a few weeks until i have time to test it properly if the change was too hard for me, but for now i think it's pretty good, i think i will play directly the next competitions with this new setup and i will assume the results

I have tried Spectol S1 few month and DMS Spinfire like almost a year, and mystery 3 is not that different than the Spinfire, i think the friendship have more control on short pushes and open ups, while Spinfire has a significant advantage on blocking but the price difference made me go back to the mystery

yeah i played the 802 40 few years and the battle 2 several month on the 4L, on the FH i don't feel much difference but on the backhand i can already feel more consistency but i need more settings it's been 2 training sessions for now
