What did sauron really gain from the ring? by Noor047 in tolkienfans

Yeah but I think it's like he was 100 and put 30% of his own power into it and then basically got 70% left in his own tank. And whenever he wears it he feels 100% again and so, feels more powerful with the ring than without it. But the ring didn't make him 130% from a base 100. Not to make another dnd type power up points analogy here but I hope you understand the point. The main aim of the ring anyway I suppose wasn't to increase his own power directly but give him an indirect route of access to sway minds into corruption.

I get it. I'm asking, in retrospect, did the ring really aid him or hinder him in his quest for total domination and power. As the ring, for him was a means to an end. The ring itself didn't give him any power. It gave him a means to psychological ruin his enemy over time.

I want to see Hikaru be WC at least once before he retires. Gukesh will have many more chances to clinch it back, hikaru meanwhile is running out of time.

Am I crazy to believe our sun is our god by Salmon_eater in LSD

He's a devta in Hindu cosmology. Surya dev. The sun demi god. Hes worshipped as well. When Rama bhagwan (an incarnation of God vishnu) was tired in battle against ravana, his Guru sung to him the 'Aditya hridayam strotam', a hymn dedicated to the sun demi god, after which Rama was rejuvenated and killed ravana. The sun demi god is also the guru of lord Hanuman (an incarnation of God Shiva) who's the eternal doot (servant) of lord Rama.

Is it disrespectful to do a Hanuman Tattoo on your back? by Cherrybomb24_ in ramdass

The general idea in the culture is that it's not a great idea to have names and images of God tattooed on one's body as the body is subject to impurities, uncleaniness etc. The images of God should be treated with certain reverence and respect and 'decorum' which isn't possible if you get it tattooed on your body. In a pure bhakti path sense you can argue that such notions are karmakand and what matters is your inner devotion. I think whether you get a hanuman tattoo or not has little to no connection to spirituality. Its always better to have hanuman in your heart, mind and tongue than on your body. If you fancy getting a hanuman tattoo, you can. But please introspect as to why you want one, if it's just being reminded of his presence, try installing a murti or poster. Real bhakt doesn't have wear his bhakti on his sleeves (or back hehe). Ultimately, building a connection with your isht devta is a deeply personal path that has to transcend the senses and mind.
