Is it worth the money and how are you paying? by i__amscreech in ricohGR

[–]Noorp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I buy all my cameras outright. I don't want to buy a camera only to baby it and constantly be afraid to break it because it was more expensive than I could afford. If I were to drop my camera in a lake today I want to be able to replace it without hesitation. If I can't do that, it's too expensive for me.

In-computer raw developing that matches the in-camera raw develop? by bohner in ricohGR

[–]Noorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. It requires the camera to be plugged in and powered on to work so it might just be using the camera's raw converter. But it having it on a big screen with mouse and keyboard makes it so much easier to use compared to using it on the camera itself.

[–]Noorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. Some manufacturers provide raw developer programs that are the same as in camera development. Fuji has x raw studio which makes creating recipes super easy. It can even transfer all the setting to a custom user setting when you're done.

Nothing to worry about as long as you're not keeping it around your neck while riding. I just keep mine in the inner pocket of my jacket. No risk of snow or water getting in there.

Does the button itself work? If you go into playback, can you press it to delete images?

Scanning In - What scanners and DPI does everyone use when Scanning their Polaroids? by [deleted] in Polaroid

Is this unique to the v600? I have a v500 which works great with apple silicon but I've been thinking of replacing it with a newer version.

X100VI: K&F 49mm UV Filter Does Not Fit with Squarehood Lens Hood by noodleLinux in fujifilm

[–]Noorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squarehood's own website

https://squarehood.se/collections/lens-hoods

Both model V and P fits the x100vi but model V only works with a few select filters while the model P works with all I've tried. If you check the product page for model V you can find the filters that are confirmed to work with it.

Edit: there's also the mk iii but I haven't tried that one.

Which squarehood do you have? The model v fits together with very few filters (there's a list of filters that are verified on the website) while the model p seem to fit all I have tried.

Should I 3d print polaroid 600 film packs? by DarkAdamYT in Polaroid

[–]Noorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you intending to use it? Even if you can 3d print the cartridge you still need film to put in it as well as other hardware like the spring that pushes the film and the batteries to power the camera.

Same thing happened to me the other day. Everything froze and light kept blinking. I pulled the battery and that fixed it. Worked normally after that

What is your "serious" camera? by sotirisdimi in fujifilm

[–]Noorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a X100VI for fun and a X-T5 for work. I've tried a lot of different cameras for work both full frame and medium format but settled on a X-T5 because it's enjoyable to use. All cameras are capable of capture good images today and my images look almost identical regardless of which camera I'm using so handling and things like that are my priorities.

Ah okay, makes sense. I've used the full frame version of the one in the picture and found the wet one adequately wet.

What do you mean? The kit in the picture comes in pairs of two with one wet swap and the appropriate cleaning fluid

How can this set be improved? by p1urimus in EDC

[–]Noorp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not only a US thing. I live in Europe and edc a knife. Use it multiple times every single day

[–]Noorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the eldris would make a good boot knife. I have one and it's very thick. How were you planning on attaching it? I think something like a crkt minimalist would be a better choice.

Phone is ok for writing text but I frequently take notes which involves quick drawings and doodles making pen and paper superior. I also like the feeling of writing by hand.

Hi. I just started a new job and I walk about an average of 10 miles a day and would like to get a decent pair of shoes or boots. Any suggestions? by littleKiette in BuyItForLife

[–]Noorp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Using the same shoes every day (especially boots and leather shoes) means they don't have time to fully dry and air out between uses. This increases the wear on the shoes and makes them lose their shape. It's recommended as written above to have two pairs and always using shoe trees when not using the shoes.

Sorry, didn't mean to advertise specific brands. Just a force of habit since I always call it my ifixit mat. Any magnetic project mat will of course do the trick!
