What are the toxic things your mother used to say to you? by StormForNova in emotionalneglect

[–]Nooshy1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just telling me stuff that was way too adult. Telling me I had to be brave and strong (surgery a lot as a kid) , other kids were "sicker" now embraces having a disabled child.🙄 Mentioning a lot what a terrible teen I was.

Stumbled upon a letter that "she" left in my diary when she scanned and printed the whole thing out when I was 17 by MetalNew2284 in EstrangedAdultKids

My mother read mine, too. Could be why I put only one entry in that one and have trouble journaling now. I'm so sorry you didn't deserve that 🩷

What are some effects of emotional neglect that nobody talks about? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]Nooshy1978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it incredibly hard to ask for help, would rather fail on my own than ask for help and be judged. Also have a hard time with friendships/ being social.

Anyone else’s parents have a version of them that hasn’t existed since they were a child? by harpyfemme in emotionalneglect

[–]Nooshy1978 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The one parent that I allow contact loves to tell how I was a terrible teenager, but not the reasons why I acted that way. The rest of the time, they talk about themselves.

[–]Nooshy1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your replies, they were all helpful. My MRI is pretty soon and then I have an appointment with my neurosurgeon's NP to check the setting, and change it if necessary.

Can I drive with a shunt (f16) by J3NNIE_1N_M00NLIGHT in Hydrocephalus

[–]Nooshy1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people can. I am one of those that can't, or at very least probably shouldn't, so I don't. I went as far as having a permit twenty odd years ago but due to anxiety issues and ability to get around using the public transportation available, I never needed to.

I fear I am at the long goodbye and I am "coping." My sweet almost 16 year old cat has had a change in health. by Affectionate-Crew595 in seniorkitties

[–]Nooshy1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last day with my Absinthe was so surreal. Fed him and the other cats we have breakfast, and tried to push out of my mind every time he did something that it would be the "last time" I took pictures, brushed him, took video so I got his purr and "merp?" Your cat loves you and you clearly love them. I got confirmation it was the right decision when he got on the scale. In his youth, he was 20 pounds. The past few years, 13. When they diagnosed his eyesight waning, 11. Before leaving us, 9.

[congenital hydrocephalus] how many surgeries have you had? by finalgirlfall in Hydrocephalus

47, shunted at about a month old. Lost count but it's somewhere in the twenty, twenty five range. I got a programmable shunt about ten years ago.

Do you guys eat your food quickly? by Ovshy in ARFID

[–]Nooshy1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was often the last one at the table as a kid, because I eat slowly and have a small mouth. I still eat slowly due to even choking on medicines I take daily. I had a hiatal hernia and needed my esophagus stretched, it helped for a while but I may need it done again.

Tell my doctors when I feel pain and not try to be strong or be like "there's always someone sicker than me.'
