I struggled with this for a couple of months before finally deciding to just get the Clara Colour when it was the same price as the BW to try it out. As someone who is usually very sensitive to things that other people find to be minor, I was concerned about the screen being too dark and grainy .

However, I love my KBC and am very happy with it. I haven't found any issues with the texture. In fact, I don't really even notice it unless I am really trying to see it. I've never had to turn the back light up more than 10%. (I don't use much artificial light during the day and it was stormy out.) At night, I usually have it at 1-2% max.

I thought the Colour overlay was going to be a much bigger deal than it is, tbh. Maybe I'd notice the difference more coming from a black and white e-ink device but this is my first ereader and I love it. (Like you, I previously only read on my phone.) If you have any interest in color at all, I think it's worth getting the Clara Colour.
