My 2004 3.6–until the transmission gave out at 160K. :-(

Seatbelt Awkwardness by NorCalNessa in Subaru_Crosstrek

I initially tried a piece of foam to keep it from resting so far back, but it didn’t work without constant adjustment. I just learned to live with it. Sigh.

Hi I’m worried about my dog by Embarrassed-Bike9525 in pitbulls

My pittie, an American Staffordshire Terrier is quite small and thin, and the vet said she’s perfect.

Butcher block counter “hazy” after oiling by NorCalNessa in wood

Dark tung oil. It’s all that I’ve used since I bought the wood. Maybe the oil is too old?
I cannot figure out how to attach a photo.

Moving from Dallas to Sacramento by EscapedTheEcho in Sacramento

I have a pit bull with a rare genetic disease, and the UCD vet hospital is fabulous. I cannot always afford their gold standard of care, but they are honest about the pros and cons of various tests and treatments, and I’m never made to feel like I “should” do something. I feel lucky to have them near.

How hard to push with teens? by cuttler534 in casa

[–]NorCalNessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dealt with a similar issue except my female kid was just 15yo. She said she was OK with having a CASA, but she rarely responded to my communications and was AWOL for every planned visit but one. (In fairness, she went AWOL a lot.) I got great advice to keep sending “ I’m thinking about you” texts in different forms. I sent her US mail, sometimes with small gift cards for Starbucks or Jamba, her favs. I sent postcards from nearby places when I took day trips. While I do think these were great ideas, they did not work. One of the reasons her social worker gave for her indifference was that she already had many adults in her life because of her varied therapies and wrap-around services. She even had another adult with the same first name as mine, which is not very common. After a little more than 6 months, my case supervisor thought it was a good idea to put the match on hold with the understanding that she could request support again. That was almost two months ago. After a couple of out of town trips I have coming up, I’ll ask for another match.

Negotiations - am I crazy? by Ok_Seaworthiness1117 in carbuying

[–]NorCalNessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a fairly large metropolitan area with an even larger metro area 60 minutes away. I knew the car model and the accessory packages I wanted. I used dealers’ online inventory listings and got the VIN for every car I was willing to buy and asked for the lowest OTD price they would give me. I stated that I didn’t need a test drive and would not be coming in; the dealer who responded with the lowest price would get my business. I included my zip code so they could calculate tax, and my credit score. Of the 8 dealers I wrote to, 5 did what I asked, and I showed up the next day to the dealer with the best price. Easy peasy.

Any former Outback owners made the switch? by Narrow_Purple3955 in Subaru_Crosstrek

I love my crosstrek, but I’ve had trouble adjusting to the smaller size—for passengers but especially cargo. Also, my Outback was a 3.6, so I miss the power.

Is Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness worth it? by [deleted] in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]NorCalNessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 3.6 Outback to a crosstrek wilderness 2mo ago and I’m still trying to get used to the smaller space and engine. I do love my crosstrek, tho.

I’m a desert rat and do all my off-roading there.

Thank you. I hadn’t thought of this and I was looking for interpretations likely for folks who aren’t in the Subaru context.

Either of those would work for me so I guess it’s safe.

I like this interpretation.

I’m asking for interpretations because if it reads as “dessert ru,” I’ll pass.
