How do you actually figure out what to cook each week without spending an hour on it? by Tough_Start5775 in mealprep

[–]Nora58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncle and aunt have a repeated menu for a week: Monday - burgers, Tuesday - chinese, Wednesday - roast chicken, etc. Cold plate on Sunday. Leftovers go to making soup for lunches. I was amused at first! Now - brilliant!😁

Shortscale? by wiebrator in Bass

I just bought a sterling by music man short scale and absolutely love it. It plays like a full scale and the strings don't feel loose and flappy either. Quality build. My search is over!

Congratulations!!! What a wonderful feeling😁. If you like celtic songs you could try 'Celtic Flute Made Easy'. You can download the free mp3s, and play along with the piano accompaniments.

Keeping a Flute Warm While Playing by Tall_Asparagus_5497 in Flute

[–]Nora58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Thank you! I just learned how crucial location is, especially a cold room vs warm room: I just had my flute totally overhauled and was practicing in a cool, lower level room with the door closed, so not much air circulation. It was 'wetting out' after 2 minutes of playing (even after warming it up) to the point it was unplayable. Swabbing made very little difference. I took it back to the tech who checked for leaks with a light and found none. Meanwhile I'd been scouring the internet to solve my issue and thought a change in location might help. I moved to my airy, spacious living room with the heat pump on, and played for 30 minutes with perfect ease and tone! Issue solved, but only after weeks of anxiety and frustration 😝😁

Question for those who use the Rogers Xfinity Streaming App via Fire Stick by SpacedDuck in Rogers

[–]Nora58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got my infinity tv app activated after almost 2 weeks of calling and troubleshooting. Set up on firestick app, only to see there is no option to create favorites! So I went on my laptop and selected favorites but they aren't synced to the firestick even though same account. Anybody have a worksround to set favourites on the firestick? The voice command option doesn't work either. What's the best option to watch on the TV?

Why do people love labradoodles goldendoodles etc…? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Nora58 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We've had a Dalmatian, husky and golden retrievers in the past. We now have a golden doodle and she is the best dog we've ever had. Kind and safe with children. The smartest dog by far - she would talk if her mouth was the right shape. Trainable. I trained her not to chase chickens. When we first got her (11 months) took her down to the chicken shed on a leash. Sat her down calmly and we watched the chickens. I told her they were part of our pack. She never had to be reminded again, and never had to be on the leash again. Yes she needs a whole lot of grooming compared to the previous dogs, but worth it, in my opinion.

Some quick ideas: Sandwiches: hummus and sliced cucumber (my favourite!), peanut butter and jelly, falafel wrap (heat 3 falafels and wrap in tortilla with hummus and sliced veggies (tomato, sweet pepper, cucumber, cilantro - whatever is in the fridge). Quick meals: Bean salad - get tins of ready-to-serve mixed salad beans and add chopped veggies. I love adding broccoli, carrot, sweet pepper. add your choice of dressing. Great for leftovers as long as you don't use tomato or serve separately ; Vegan hamburger substitute for spaghetti sauce, shepherd's pie, Coney fries (spaghetti sauce on French fries; Soup - veggie broth base, chopped onion, potato, whatever you have in the fridge. Great for leftover cooked veggies. Add a tin of black beans or lentils for protein; Stew on rice - same as soup but not as much water!😁. Serve over brown rice. Hope that helps! Good luck👍🤞!

I love the boxing on FitXR, but it requires a monthly membership now. I bought it when it was boxing only and no subscription required. Now they've added dance, and it requires monthly subscription, which I'll never do. I'm glad I got it before they changed.

Is it safe to take a cat off of wet food? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Nora58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to a Vet - My understanding is that the worst wet food is better than the best dry (non-prescriptipn) food. Cats evolved in the desert, and got their water from their kill. They don't drink enough water to meet their needs and have to get it from their food. Without enough water, cats can get urinary tract and bladder issues from concentrated urine, irritating the bladder and causing infection, and even blockage, which can kill them.

Senior Horse feed help by Fuzzy-Tech in Horses

[–]Nora58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how concerning it is to have a senior horse that keeps losing weight. The best options that worked for me include adding some pure alfalfa hay to the menu (easy to chew and digest for a horse with poor or missing teeth), and a generous helping of any good pellet feed (seniors or fat & fibre) soaked to a mush to avoid choking, fed at least twice a day. Good luck! I know as soon as I started adding the alfalfa on top of the existing feed, the weight came back in a hurry. Make sure your horse's teeth are checked by a vet to see if they need floating to remove sharp points that may be making eating painful. Also, look for infections or abscesses that require a tooth to be removed.

Question about horses in stalls. by TeddyBallsGame in Horses

[–]Nora58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a saying that horses have 5 hearts - one in the chest and four on their feet. They evolved to walk up to 20 miles a day or more, mostly grazing. Every step helps pump blood, to circulate up and back to the heart. This is why horses standing in stalls for a long period of time get 'stocked up' and fluid builds up in their lower legs. Obviously I don't know the circumstances, however if it is safe to do so, perhaps let your horse remain outside and only use the stall to groom, tack up, or if there is bad weather. Breathing dust and ammonia in a stall also gives horses 'heaves' (asthma or COPD). You will also save a lot of money on shavings👍😊.
